John Pankratz

John Pankratz, age 96, peacefully went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at the Herbert Integrated Health Facility, Herbert, SK, surrounded by family. John was born on October 22, 1927 at Langham, SK to Henry H & Sarah Pankratz, the seventh of nine children. He accepted Jesus as his Saviour as a young teen and was baptized soon thereafter. John married Edna Frieda Toews on April 24, 1955, and this union was blessed with three children. John had various hobbies and interests, volunteering at New Horizon’s, being an usher and board member at the Herbert Evangelical Free Church, curling – brought home several trophies, fishing, trucking with Stewart, cowboys and covered wagons, visiting his brother, Henry, in Arizona and seeing the Grand Canyon, a Missions trip to Mexico and to Cuba a few times as his cousin and her husband ran a mission, and going with the MCC to Alexandria Missouri helping to rebuild after a flood. During their married life John & Edna moved and relocated numerous times. His last move, a year and a half ago, was to the Herbert Integrated Health Facility, Long-term Care where he resided until his passing. John is survived by his wife of 69 years, Edna Pankratz; his children, Brenda (Lorne) Matichuk, Darrell (Dorie) Pankratz, Stewart (Cheryl) Pankratz; his grandchildren, Chrissy Pankratz, Jennifer Pankratz, Josh Watson, David (Sondra) Latta, Miranda Lotta, Micah Matichuk; and by his great-grandchildren, Solan Pankratz, Calista Pitcher, Dakota Latta, Sieanna Latta, and Nevaeh Latta. John’s favorite verse was 1 Thessalonians 5:17 – 18 KJV “Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks! For this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
