John Parker, age 76, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Swift Current, SK on Thursday, March 31, 2022. John is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, June Parker; his son, Jason (Lesley) Parker (New Westminster, BC) and their daughters, Danielle and Emily; his daughter, Jessica (Daniel) Molina (Cambridge, ON); and by his sister, Gini (Brian) Moore (White Rock, BC) and her daughters, Wendy and Toby.
John H. Parker was born August 7, 1945 in Carleton Country, Ottawa (now part of the city of Ottawa) to Herbert & Katie (Fisher) Parker. He started working when he was 12 on a vegetable farm in Ottawa. After finishing school and at the age of 18, he moved to Banff, AB where he worked at the Banff Spring Hotel as a dishwasher and grounds keeper.
When he was 20, he moved to Whitehorse, Yukon where he worked first as a teller at the TD Bank and worked his way up to human resources. He was transferred to head office in Vancouver, BC where he worked for two years until going back to Whitehorse, where he was the branch manager. While John was in Whitehorse, he joined Jaycees — an international organization that does leadership training for young adults so they can become leaders in their communities.
John was transferred to Langley, BC where he met his wife, June, and they were married in 1981. He changed careers in 1987 and went to work with Community Futures as a general manager. This work had him involved in several communities and they settled in Swift Current in November 2004.
In his spare time, John loved golfing, fly fishing, camping, hunting, and being outdoors in general. He also loved to garden — both flowers and vegetables.
John loved his family, his community, and was devoted to his faith in the Lord.
We will miss you, Dad. You have touched many lives and lived a life worth living.
