Katherene "Tina" Buhler

Katherene “Tina” Buhler (nee Klassen), age 85, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2020 at the Herbert & District Integrated Healthcare Facility, Herbert, SK. Tina was born to Martin & Helena Klassen on August 12, 1934 in Carrot River, SK. She went to school at Lady Bank and was baptized in the Sommerfeld Mennonite Church in 1952.

Tina married Jacob H. Dueck in October 1952 and they lived at Glen Kerr, SK until Jacob’s passing in January of 1983. She was widowed for three years, then she met and married Rev. David Buhler and moved to Rhineland, MB in 1986, where she lived until his passing. Tina lived in Winkler, MB until September of 2018, then moved to the Prairie Wind Estates in Herbert.

She spent her time playing Crokinole, crocheting, knitting, doing puzzles, calling family and friends, and visiting. Tina was always a kind, gentle, and patient mother. She loved the Lord and reminded her children daily to pray and rely upon the Lord. In the last month or so, Tina had an increase in white blood cells, indicating some type of infection which caused her blood sugars to become hard, if not impossible to control properly. With that, she also became dehydrated and the combination of these things made it incredibly hard to recover from, as they could not quite figure out why they were happening. It all became too much for her and the Lord called her home.

Tina was predeceased by her parents, Martin & Helena Klassen; her brothers, Jake (Kathleen), Henry, Peter (Mary), Abe, and Phillip (Erna); her husband, Jacob H. Dueck; her in-laws, Helen (Jake, John) Penner, Isaac (Susie) Dueck, David, Susie (John) Doerksen, Katherine (George) Braun, Elizabeth (Metro) Radicki, Ann (Pete) Yanko, Rose (John) Yanko, Art Dueck, and Ben Dueck; her second husband, Rev. David Buhler; her step-children, John Buhler, Abe Buhler, Sara Buhler, and Abe Friesen.

Tina is survived by her children and their families, Harold (Susan) Dueck, their children, Ben (Shelan) and Pam (Mark); Ray (Evelyn) Dueck, their children, Krista (Nik), Michelle (Ben), Patti (Carmen), Kim (Lucas), and Dan (Kathy); Shirley (Leo Sullivan) Doerksen; Martha (Willy) Funk, their children, Jelena (Vince Sebo) and Curtis; Rose (Phil) Reimer, their children, Jasmin and Jack; her brother, Frank (Ruth) Klassen; her sisters-in-law, Helen Dyck, Betty Klassen, Irma Dueck, and Wilma Dueck; her step-children, Kay (Henry) Hamm, Jake (Irene) Buhler, Helen Buhler, Annie Buhler, Ann Wall, Betty (John) Friesen, Dave (Betty) Buhler, Henry (Nettie) Buhler, Susan Friesen, Mary (Don) Slocombe, Pete Buhler, Tina Buhler, and Mary (Frank) Wall; and by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

The Private Family Graveside Service for Tina Buhler was held on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at 2:00 pm from the Gouldtown Cemetery, Gouldtown, SK with Rev. Abe Funk officiating. “In the Sweet By and By” and “Amazing Grace” were sung by those in attendance. The obituary was read by Rose Reimer. Ben Dueck, Danny Dueck, Curtis Funk, Jack Reimer, Krista Dueck, and Pam Zentner served as Pallbearers.
