Katherine Helen (Olfert) Braun Obituary
The family is saddened to announce the passing of Katherine (Kathy) Olfert Braun on 21 Sept at Cypress Regional Hospital after a short illness.
Kathy was born in Swift Current in August 1940 to Daniel and Barbara Olfert. Growing up on the family farm learning a Mennonite work ethic, she went to Rosthern Junior College for high school, then to Swift Current Bible Institute. Kathy met William (Bill) at Rhineland Christian Fellowship Church and were married in 1961. Three daughters joined the family, Corinne, Teresa and Sharon.
Kathy was interested in learning and took evening classes in the community, learning how to tailor bespoke garments. She produced many, many articles of clothing throughout the years. She worked at Fabricland and owned and operated Braun's Experienced Clothing. During retirement years, she volunteered at the MCC thrift store, doing alterations and making many quilts for charity.
Kathy leaves behind her husband of 63 years Bill, her daughters Corinne, Teresa and Michael Brown (Matthew) and Sharon. Her siblings Ernest and Diane Olfert, Owen Olfert and Deanna Olfert, many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and two brothers, Benjamin and Arthur.
Many thanks to Cypress Regional Hospital care staff for their wonderful care and respect.
