Kathrina Fehr

Katherina Fehr, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at the Prairie Health Care Centre, Cabri, SK. Katherina “Kathy” Fehr was born on July 20, 1934 in Swift Current, SK to Cornelius & Anna Fehr, the second youngest of 14 children. When Kathy was 7 years old she started school, but on the very first day she broke her arm and had to wait another year to start again. Kathy attended Amphion School until she was 14 and finished Grade 8. She stayed home and started working for several farmers doing a variety of jobs some of which included cooking, cleaning, gardening, milking cows, and feeding pigs. Kathy also had jobs doing housework and babysitting. Later, Kathy got a job at the Bus Depot washing dishes, but after two weeks she was moved to cooking which she did for a long time until management changed. Kathy then worked at the Dixie Lunch in the Big I, the Highliter, Pacific 66, Kabos, T & T, and also at the Akropol Resteraunt. Kathy started volunteering at the MCC thrift store where she enjoyed all the many people she worked with and also the customers. The last eight years, Kathy lived in the Prairie Pioneer Independent Housing Units where she enjoyed her many friends and neighbors. Kathy was predeceased by her parents, Cornelius & Anna Fehr; and by all her siblings.
