Laurie Weppler Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Laurie Weppler, age 60, of Stewart Valley, SK. Laurie’s courageous battle against cancer ended on June 19, 2026, at Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current, SK, with her loving husband, Tom, and her daughters, Tommi-Lyn and Tessa, by her side as she slipped away into the arms of her Lord and Savior.

Laurie Lynne (Alldred) Weppler was born on January 4, 1966, in Weyburn, SK, to Garth & Charlene Alldred. She later relocated to Herbert, SK, where she attended Herbert School and graduated in 1984. Laurie enjoyed participating in various High School activities, some of which included curling, volleyball, hockey, and the school choir. On December 15, 1984, Laurie married the love of her life, Tom Weppler. Together they started to build a beautiful family. They were blessed with two daughters: Tommi-Lyn, born June 6, 1986, and Tessa Rae, born March 3, 1989. Laurie was a caring and devoted mother, and together she and Tom raised the beautiful women their daughters are today. Laurie’s family continued to grow in ways that brought her great joy, and she treasured her role as a mother and grandmother. Laurie loved her family deeply. Laurie loved working with and serving people, volunteering with non-profit organizations such as MyCityCare, Circle Square Ranch, and missionary trips to El Salvador and Mexico. Throughout her life, she held a variety of jobs, including working in care homes, banking, and office administration. Her most recent job was office administration at SK Landing. Laurie’s hobbies and interests included traveling, camping, puzzling, board games, especially with grandchildren, flowers and plants, and more recently one of Laurie’s dreams was fulfilled when she became a member of the Swift Current Oratorio Choir, which she greatly enjoyed. But, first and foremost, Laurie especially loved being home with her children. In December 1998, Laurie & Tom experienced a change in direction in their lives, and they began living their faith-filled life’s calling. This choice eventually allowed them to share some of the most rewarding times of their lives, both becoming ordained and serving together in various ministries, including living abroad as missionaries.  Some people walk loud, but Laurie walked in calm. She could light up a room without demanding attention. She had a gift for making people feel safe, seen, and loved. Even during the last eight months, likely the most difficult time of her life, Laurie continued to put others first.

Laurie leaves to cherish her memory to her husband, Tom; her daughters, Tommi-Lyn (Rogelio) Ortega – their children, Matteo and Valentina, and Tessa (Brad) Boux – their daughters, Norah and Esmae; her parents, Garth & Charlene Alldred; her brother, Brad Alldred; her sister-in-law, Lisa Weppler (Jim Reid); and by numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends. She was predeceased by her parents-in-law, Bob & Gladys Weppler; and by her grandparents, Garnet & Fern Alldred, and Charles & Alice West.

Laurie will be remembered for her gentle strength, her quiet warmth, her deep faith, and the love she poured so freely into those around her. Her family and friends will carry her memory with gratitude, love, and hope. “I can only imagine what you are doing now.”
