Lawrence Feil Obituary

Lawrence H. Feil, age 87, of Swift Current passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current, SK.

Lawrence was born September 9, 1933 in Swift Current to Fred & Martha Feil and raised on a farm in the Beaver Flats area. He moved to Swift Current as a teen with many ambitions — he was a hard worker and would take any job to achieve his dreams. He eventually decided on a career in plumbing and apprenticed as a plumber, and later attended Kelsey Institute in Saskatoon, SK to receive his gas fitters certificate. Lawrence worked several jobs until he and some co-workers struck out on their own in 1982 and bought Lens Plumbing and Heating in Swift Current. His true love, however, was farming — as soon as he got off work he would head out to the farm.

Over the years, he was very involved in the community with his work through many social clubs, including being a long-time member of the Fraternal Order Of Eagles. He also enjoyed volunteer work with the Salvation Army and his work at St. Olaf’s Lutheran Church. Lawrence was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church and his faith was strong. Lawrence spent many years going to the Broncos games, and years trying hard to beat the girls at Canasta. There were also tales of square dancing and curling.

He will be fondly remembered for his generosity, his warm smile, his zest for life, and his wonderful sense of humour. Lawrence will be forever missed by all who knew him.

Lawrence is survived by his wife, Lillian Feil; his daughter, Holly Wagner; his son, Layne Feil; his grandchildren, Kris Wagner, Katie Wagner (Shariq Ahmad), and Kyler Wagner; his godson, Jim Feil; his sister, Margaret (Reg) Lopeter; and by his many nieces and nephews.

Lawrence was predeceased by his parents, Fred & Martha Feil; his brothers, Wilfred (Irene) Feil and Roy (June) Feil; and by his sisters, Emma (Hank) Ruf, Elsie (Elmer) Steinley, and Marilyn (Ken) Leier.

A Graveside Service will be held at a later date.
