Lorraine Braun

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear wife and mother, Agnes “Lorraine” (Crawford) Braun, on March 16 2024.  

Lorraine was the youngest of four children, born to William and Agnes Crawford on March 11 1943.    Lorraine was born and raised in Calgary. After graduation she began her career with AGT.  It was there she met and became great friends with a couple of Braun girls, from Admiral.  Through them she met she their brother, Dick and the rest is history. Dick and Lorraine got married in Calgary on October 4 1969.  They moved to the Braun family farm at Admiral in April of 1970.  In 1976 they purchased their dream ranch near Simmie.  It was there Lorraine was kept busy raising a family, keeping a beautiful yard, growing a large garden along with all the aspects of farming and ranching. Lorraine loved the farm and never wanted to move back to the city.  She was active in 4H as the general leader for the Simmie Multi Club.  She also enjoyed photography and had several pictures published on the cover of the Canadian Hereford Digest as well as the Western Producer.  A large part of her free time was spent compiling extensive family tree history for both her Crawford and Hayes sides.  Lorraine enjoyed her daily walks on the ranch along with coffee row uptown in Simmie with great neighbours. She loved animals, birdwatching and the views from her kitchen window.  She spent her final time in the Shaunavon care home and later the Meadows in Swift Current, battling Alzheimer’s.  The family would like to thank everyone who cared for Lorraine over this time.

 Lorraine was predeceased by her parents, her sister June and brothers Bob and Billy.

Lorraine is survived by her husband Dick, her son Craig (Carrie) Braun, daughter Cindy Braun and her grandchildren Colby and Shelby.  To honor Lorraine’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.
