Madeline Knakoske

Madeline (Maddy) Edith Knakoske, age 97 of Swift Current Saskatchewan passed away peacefully on January 15th, 2025 at The Foyer St. Joseph in Ponteix, Sk.  

At Madeline’s request there will be no funeral.

Viewing was held on Saturday January 18th at Swift Current Funeral Home.

 Madeline was born October 22nd, 1927 near Torquay, Sk.  She was the last remaining of 15 siblings born to John and Frances Friess.  Madeline married Ernest Knakoske on October 16, 1947 in Estevan, Sk. and resided in Weyburn Sk. until 1957 before moving to Swift Current, Sk.  Maddy was a homemaker and mom for most of her life but did enjoy working at Francine’s Ladies Wear after the nest was empty and showed her eye for fashion and honed her skill of bringing outfits home and then hide them from Dad.  She also loved square dancing, camping and her lifelong love of her Swift Current Broncos.  She often talked about listening to them on the radio even while in the nursing home and often asked if the Bronco’s were playing tonight.  She loved all her grandchildren and often asked how they were doing and tried hard to keep up as the numbers of them grew and grew. Madeline is survived by son Murray (Marlene), Gary (Eileen), Donna (Grant), numerous grandchildren, step grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.  She is predeceased by her husband Ernest in 2013 and son Garth (Susan) in December 2018.  The family would like to thank all of the staff at the Foyer St. Joseph in Ponteix for the excellent care they provided her during her stay there.
