Margaret Dick Obituary

Margaret Dick, age 75, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 3, 2022 with family by her side at the Meadows – House 14, Swift Current, SK.

Margaret Rose Dick was born August 2, 1946 in Swift Current to Pete & Aganetha “Agnes” Dick. She and her sister, Betty, grew up and attended the Shaner and Amphion schools in Swift Current. After graduation, she attended Millar College of the Bible in Pambrun, SK for two years. Margaret then began her career with the Cypress Health Region, where she worked as food services manager until her retirement after 30 years.

Margaret’s faith was a very important part of her life, it was Nettie Regier who shared her faith in Christ with Margaret and Betty. The whole Dave Regier family was a tremendous inspiration to them as they shared the love of Christ, strengthening their faith. Two of Margaret’s favorite Scriptures were Job 23:10 and I John 5:13.

Margaret was a member of Trailview Alliance since 1970 and was very active I the church she loved. She served as a Sunday School teacher, Pioneer Girls leader, sang in the choir, attended Bible studies, and was the kitchen coordinator for many funeral luncheons. She especially loved “good, old Gospel songs.”

Her favorite color was coral and she loved flowers, especially begonias. She also loved dogs and had three over the years, with a special fondness for poodles. Margaret loved to read, knit, and do puzzles. But she especially loved being outdoors, especially enjoying a calm, spring morning, and being anywhere in Canada.

Margaret loved to travel and went on many trips, especially to BC to visit family, spending time on Victoria Island, and going to the Harrison hot springs and Butchart Gardens. She also took bus tours to the West Coast, California, the Black Hills, and Branson.

As Margaret battled cancer and prepared to leave this world for eternity with her Savior, she left some notes in her own words that she wanted shared with those she loved. Margaret wanted everyone to know how important it was to her that “Christ died for me and took my sins upon himself, that I might live forever.”

Her greatest hope was that “all my family will meet me on the other side where Jesus is” and wanted her family to remember her for “caring for their soul. That their relationship with Jesus would be right and that their relationships with each other would be good.” When asked if she could live her life over, what would she do differently, her answer was “I would hardly do anything different.”

Her final message for her family and friends was “Do not weep for me, for I am with Jesus and my only sister. I’ve finally met my mother, who I never knew because I was only a year and a half old when she passed away. I will be together again with so many that have gone before me. My soul is taken care of, and my body has been made new. Make my funeral service an honor to what God, through Jesus, did for me and everyone who will accept His love and grace.”

Margaret was predeceased by her mother, Agnes Dick (nee Janzen) in 1948; her father, Peter Dick, in 2000; her sister, Betty Knelsen, in 1999; her aunt, Lavina, in 2006; her great-niece, Amanda Janzen, in 2008; and by her nephew, Doug, in 2009.

Margret is survived by her nieces, Lorna (Henry) Janzen and Sharon (Hannu) Yliruusi; her great-nieces and nephews, Jessica (Brad) Yliruusi, Jordan, Yliruusi, Levi Yliruusi, Karen (Isaiah) Sterling (their children, Kian, Cooper, Emma, and Elly) and Daniel (Lily) Knelsen (their children, Gwen, Amanda, and Michael); and by many dear friends.
