Marie Penner

Maria (Marie) Penner, age 95, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at The Meadows in Swift Current.

Marie was born on September 22, 1924 in the Gouldtown Area to Cornelius & Marie Wiebe. Marie and Peter Penner were married in August of 1949 and together they raised their children in the Glen Kerr District. Marie was a devoted wife and homemaker. Being a mother of 10 children kept her very busy! Marie was known for her baking, cooking and beautiful flowers. She also did laundry and sewing for neighbors when needed.

Marie is survived by her loving children, Myrna, Vera (Irwin), Valerie, Glenda (Ken), Melvin, Pearl (Ed), Sharon, Shauna (John), Dalsey (Joey); her daughter-in-law, Beverly; 22 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and by 9 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband,  Peter; her son, Garry; 4 sons-in-law; 1 granddaughter; and by 1 grandson-in-law.

The Private Family Graveside Service was held on Friday, May 15, 2020 from the Herbert Cemetery, Herbert, SK with Pastor Rob Winslow officiating. Chosen musical selections were “Mansion Over the Hilltop” and “Help Pour Out the Rain”. A Letter to Mom was brought by Glenda Schapansky. The pallbearers for the service were Travis Penner, Fred Lingelbach, Colin Gerbrandt, Sheldon Penner, Devon Kell, and Lonny Behm. Honorary pallbearers were Lisa Moss, Dr. Kassett, and the Herbert & District Healthcare Facility Staff.
