Marion Regier, age 96, went to be with her Lord Jesus on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. As family, we are thankful for her life and for the eternal hope we have in Christ. Marion Emma Regier was born on March 15, 1929 at Wymark, SK, the 6th child born to George & Helen Peters. She had 4 sisters and 3 brothers. Historical sources say she “came by jigger” as a physician came to Wymark on the railway jigger to help with the birth. Marion (Mom) brought some beautiful gifts and attributes to the world, compassion, care, and love to family and friends around her. Throughout her life, she had lots of opportunity to show hospitality, sometimes on very short notice, with family or unexpected guests dropping in. Mom’s early life was spent in Wymark, McMahon, and eventually in Swift Current. She excelled at school, obtaining her Grade 11, and then going on to take a business course. Later in life, she completed her Grade 12 certificate. One of Mom’s early jobs was working in a bank in Swift Current. Mom enjoyed going to camp, searching for crocuses, and hiking to look over the cutbanks. Sometime before 1949, she became interested in a young man named Ed Regier. Apparently, there were unique ways to spend a little extra time together. One time, Ed told of the car getting stuck in reverse and having to drive backwards the whole way to drop Mom off. No problem, this just gave them more time together. Train crossings were also welcomed. In October 1949, Mom (Marion) married Edward Jacob Regier. Mom was Dad’s partner, and they did life together for more than 65 years. They became a family, built a business, enjoyed leisure and travel, and sought to serve their Lord Jesus. Family: Mom & Dad had four sons and eventually four daughters…daughters-in-law that is, Wayne (Lynn), Lionel (Jean), Steve (Bonnie), and Loren (Colette). As you can imagine, with four rambunctious boys, life at home, and occasionally at the emergency department, was busy. Although the boys grew taller and bigger, Mom could hold her own by employing her own version of “elbows up”. Life was busy but good. Music was a high priority for the family. Mom contributed by driving the boys to lessons, playing piano, singing, and playing in the bell choir. The May long weekend fishing trip up North was always a highlight. Mom caught fish, fried fish, but never had to fillet fish. Many key family memories were made. Mom’s sister, Leona, was often in on family events and sister outings. Work and Business: Mom took care of much of the bookwork, did gardening, brought meals to the farm, and wrote the very first cheque for those 1980 Honda Civics. Summers were especially full given that early on, business involved sales and services of farm machinery, leisure trailers, and vehicles, along with farming on the side. Leisure and Travel: Mom & Dad were able to enjoy several trips. Some highlights were Venezuela, Mexico, Israel, Hawaii, and Arizona where Mom’s brother spent the winter. Their most frequent getaways took them West to the mountains for some camping. Many of these trips included stops along the way to reconnect with extended family. In the 1970’s they took advantage of an opportunity to visit Mom’s sister, Leona, in Kenya. As much as they treasured that trip, Mom was limited as to how much she could enjoy it, as she was a little worried about leaving a couple of boys to fend for themselves back home. Sidenote – there was no need to worry, things back home were well in order! Christian Life and Faith: Mom chose to follow the Lord Jesus Christ and be baptized at an early age. The sincerity of this commitment was evident in all aspects of Mom’s life, from choosing her lifelong partner, to the activities of each week. Early on, Mom & Dad bought a house that was only partly finished. Rather than prioritizing finishing off the house, they lived in it as it was, giving priority to providing hospitality to special speakers who came to help in establishing the new church they were helping to start. Mom cared for people and was a fervent prayer warrior for friends, family, as well as people at home and abroad. Even in her later days, when some things became more difficult and confusing, her prayers were often surprisingly clear. Throughout Mom’s lifetime, her and Dad were involved with many individuals and families in Christian work around the world. Mom & Dad gave sacrificially of their time and finances to support worthy projects. Mom & Dad moved to Riverview Village Estates in 2015. After Dad’s passing in 2016, the staff at Riverview provided assistance and care for Mom, often going above and beyond what was expected. Mom was ready to go to her ultimate eternal home with her Savior, Jesus Christ. Mom was predeceased by her parents; three sisters; and by three brothers. Mom leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Wayne (Lynn), Lionel (Jean), Steve (Bonnie), and Loren (Colette); her grandchildren, Tricia (Wayne) Cormier, Jason (Terra), Dean (Linnea), Jillian (Derek) Thiessen, David (Lindsay), Duane (Jobi), Bretta (Cody) Turner, Shawn (Melissa), Randy (Olivia), Krista (Kenny) Boese, Jonathan, Brendon (Jenyne), and Reilly (Jade); her 30 great-grandchildren; her sister, Leona Peters; a brother-in-law, Karan Regier; her sisters-in-law, Judith Regier, Dorothy Regier, Pearl Regier, and Carol Peters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
