Marsha (Rayner) Knittel

Marsha Knittel (nee Rayner), age 76, of Cabri, SK passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2023 at the Cabri Prairie Health Care Centre with her husband, Joseph, and her family by her side.

Marsha Elizabeth Knittel was born July 31, 1946 to Elmore & Evelyn Rayner in Herbert, SK and grew up in Morse, SK where she also attended school.

Marsha married Joseph Donald Knittel on May 4, 1963 in her family home with Rev. Gilchrist serving as officiant. She then moved to Cabri, where Joseph had a farm, and began working as a nurse at the Cabri Hospital, where she worked for many years. Marsha & Joseph were married for 60 years and together, raised two sons – David and Darren.

She loved gardening, canning, and helping Joseph on the farm. Baking was one of Marsha’s specialties and her homemade buns were practically famous. She also crocheted many beautiful afghans.

Marsha & Joseph were blessed with five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She loved her family and was dearly loved by her sons, daughters-in law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all those who knew her. She had a huge heart and touched many people in her nursing career and many people outside of her job. She was affectionately known by many as “Gramma” and will be fondly missed.

The Private Family Graveside Service for Marsha Knittel will take place on Saturday, September 2, 2023.

The Celebration of Life for Marsha Knittel will take place Saturday, September 2, 2023 at the Cabri Community Hall and will be come and go from 12:00 – 5:00 pm. The family will be there to greet friends and would like everyone who wishes to share fond memories of Marsha to attend – it will be a “Happy Hour” for Gramma.

In memory of Marsha Knittel, donations made to the Cabri Hospital Auxiliary would be appreciated by the family.
