Marvin Garth Anderson was born on January 10, 1947 in Kyle, SK to Olaf & Bertha Anderson — one of four boys in the Anderson household. He attended all his school years and graduated from Kyle Composite School. One of Marvin’s first jobs was driving truck for South Construction and that was where he met the love of his life, Patricia Rivers. Marv & Pat were married in November of 1968. They eventually moved to Swift Current, SK where he started driving truck for Motorways.
Marvin worked there for several years while they settled and had their daughter, Denise, in 1973. In the early 1980’s, both Marvin & Pat drove for United Taxi and bought the business together in 1986. They ran the company together for several years until Pat passed away. Marv continued running United Taxi until he sold it and retired in 2012. Once he retired, Marvin got a job driving truck for Mobile Paving and worked there for three summers.
In addition to driving, Marvin had many hobbies. He played hockey as a young man, curled, and enjoyed playing cards with friends and family. For the last several years, Marvin loved to golf, play poker, and watch his favorite person in the world — his granddaughter, Emma — play hockey. You could very often find him sitting with his hockey mom posse, ringing his cowbell.
Marvin is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Denise & Ken Giesbrecht; his granddaughter, Emma; his honorary granddaughter, Summer; his brothers, Doug Anderson and Tracy (Toni) Anderson; his brothers-in-law, Ken (Carol) Rivers, Gerry (Nancy) Rivers, and Reg (Lori) Rivers; his sisters-in-law, Bonnie Rivers, Kathy Kirschman, and Eileen (Morris) Paskaruk; his special friend, Sandra Dyck; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and many cousins and friends that were considered family.
Marvin was predeceased by wife, Pat Anderson; his father, Olaf Anderson; his mother, Bertha Anderson (nee Harder); his brother, Garry Anderson; his father-in-law, Patrick Rivers; his mother-in-law, Jessie Rivers; his brother-in-law, Al Rivers; his friend, Sandra Turner; and by his friend, Evelina Zacharias.
