Marvin Nickel Obituary

Marvin Jacob Nickel was born on July 12th 1950 to Anton Nickel and Mary (Penner) Nickel.  He grew up on a farm near Main Centre Saskatchewan with his 5 sisters.  Marvin married Lenora (Doerksen) Nickel in August of 1985.  They settled in Martensville.  Marvin is survived by his Wife and his 3 Children, Janice (Bryce) Morland,  Jennifer Nickel and Cherie Nickel and his 5 grandchildren - Grady, Zach, AJ, Tori & GG.   

Marvin is survived by his 4 sisters , Marlene, Evelyn, Beatrice and Ivy.  

Working as a carpenter was his calling and gift.  The early years Marvin worked in Martensville building homes.   Then he built a home for his family and began creating in his attached garage.   Then he moved to a shop around the corner and NBTB (Nothing But The Best) woodworkers was born.  Over the years Marvin employed many people,  young, old, those down on their luck and even the odd boyfriend or husband of his daughters.   The last 18 years they resided in Swanson where he continued to create beautiful kitchens and bring people’s ideas to life.  The last 4 years he spent building butcher blocks and various other kitchen creations.   Everyone who met Marvin became a friend and was always welcome at the table.   He made an impression on all those who knew him.   Marvin was very active in his Church and enjoyed many mission trips to Africa, Mexico and Arviat.   He was always teaching someone to build or create.   He enjoyed so many things, fishing, building, meeting new people. 

The Carpenter went home to meet the Master Carpenter on September 17th, 2024.  

 A celebration of his life will be on September 27th at 2pm at the Westgate Alliance Church in Saskatoon. 

Internment on Sunday September 29th , 2pm at the Capeland Cemetery near Main Centre.
