"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8

Mary (Wall) Friesen, age 91, was called home to glory by her loving Saviour in the early morning hours of Thursday, February 17, 2022 at the Meadows – House 16, Swift Current, SK.

Mom was born on March 26, 1930 in Swift Current to George & Anna Wall, she grew up in the Rosenhof area. She went to the Lens East school for her first years, then to Lens West for the rest of her school years. From the age of nine, mom did lots of babysitting for all the neighbors, plus helping her parents at home.

Mom was baptized upon the confession of her faith on June 6, 1949. She married Jacob Friesen on November 3, 1957 — they were blessed with 64 years, 3 months, and 14 days together.

Mom always had an open door for company and was always ready to serve food and even keep them for the night. Mom kept a huge garden — she cleaned tons of vegetables and canned jars and jars of fruit and made a variety of jams to feed the family. She was a very hard worker and had a servant heart.

Mom and dad lived in Rosenhof until they retired to Swift Current in 2006. They lived in a condo until July 6, 2021 when they both moved into Willow Creek Manor due to mom’s failing health and dementia. On November 1, 2021 mom and dad moved to the Meadows.

Even during the time of mom’s dementia, one thing she never forgot was her love for her Saviour, Jesus. She continued praying many times every day.

Mom leaves to mourn her beloved husband, Jacob; her children, Anna (John) Dyck, George (Marlene) Friesen, John (Barb) Friesen, Jake Friesen, Tim (Lisa) Friesen, Mary (Cornie) Hildebrand, and Betty (Martin) Elias; her daughter-in-law, Trudi; her twenty grandchildren; her thirty great-grandchildren; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Mom was predeceased by her son, Isaac; her grandson, Timothy; her parents, George & Anna Wall; and by all of her siblings.

We as a family would like to thank all the staff at both care homes for lovingly caring for mom.

The Funeral Service for Mary Friesen was held on Friday, February 25, 2022 at 2:00 pm from the Sommerfeld Mennonite Church, Swift Current, SK with Rev. Abe Funk and Bishop Herman Hamm officiating.

The Interment Service was held immediately following the Funeral Service from the Rosenhof Cemetery, Rosenhof, SK with Rev. Peter Martens officiating. Mary’s grandsons, Peter Dyck, Tyler Friesen, Brian Friesen, Jason Friesen, Todd Hildebrand, and Trevor Elias served as Pallbearers. A come and go time of fellowship was held Friday, February 25, 2022 at 7:00 pm from Community Baptist Church, Swift Current, SK.
