Mary Siemens

Mary Siemens, age 90, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025 at The Meadows, Swift Current, SK.

Mary (Dyck) Siemens was born on April 16, 1934 at Blumenhof, SK to John & Mary Dyck. The family later moved to the Dunelm district and eventually settled on the present yard site, now belonging to Mary’s nephew, Brian Dyck. She attended the Dunelm and Shaner Schools. Mary was an independent young woman ahead of her time and was not afraid to tackle anything. She became a farmer, working her own land, raising chickens, and cows. She also enjoyed gardening, fishing, handcrafts like knitting and playing games. Mary had a strong faith and was always willing to help anyone in need, blessing her family and many in her church and community. She was deeply involved with her family, especially her nieces and nephews. 

Mary and Rev. John C. Siemens were married on April 16, 1983 and she became a mother and grandmother to a new family, a role she enjoyed and took on wholeheartedly. Mary & John resided in Swift Current, and she continued to farm until 1991. When the house and yard became too much, they moved into Riverview in Swift Current. After John’s passing in 2014, Mary continued to live at Riverview until it became necessary for her to move to the Swift Current Care Centre and later to The Meadows where she resided until her passing. Mary’s health continued to decline and after a brief illness she quietly passed into the presence of her Saviour.  

Mary is survived by his family, Vicki (Bob) Enns, their family – Carrie and Tracy: Lois (Harvey) Klassen, their family – Chris (Joella), Corwin (Kerry), Curtis (Michelle), Kendra (Mario Ngabwe): Bev (Clare) Neufeld, their family – Granddaughter-in-law, Kendra Neufeld Engle, Ryan (Sara), Rachel: Ken (Kathy) Siemens, their family – Travis (Hilda), Kara (Dan Harbridge), Shelly (John) McGown; 22 great-grandchildren; Sisters-in-law, Anne Dyck and Linda Dyck; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband, Rev. John C. Siemens; a grandson, Russell Neufeld; a great-grandson, Jace Ngabwe; her parents, John H.B. & Mary Dyck; her brothers, Jacob Dyck, John Dyck, and a brother in infancy; and by her sister & brother-in-law, Anne & Art Wall.
