Miles Huxted Obituary

Miles Huxted, age 62, of Swift Current and formerly of Maple Creek passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, July 7, 2021.

Miles Larry Huxted was born on November 22, 1958 in Maple Creek, SK to Gordon & Darlene Huxted. Miles had five siblings, David, Danny, Garry, Tammy, and youngest brother, James. Miles had five children and two grandchildren — his oldest sons, Samuel (April) (granddaughters, Summer and Lilly) and Dire (girlfriend, Eryn), his daughters, Ashlin and Bailey, and his youngest son, Cole. He also had many nieces and nephews.

Miles always had work, whether it was at the Research Station or checking wells in the oil field, and in later years, working as a custodian. He could often be found at the family farm lending his dad a hand.

Miles always had a passion for drawing. He enjoyed drawing cartoon characters and people — he always had a sketch book nearby.

Miles was known for his love of swimming — if there was water, he would find it. In his later years, he shared this passion with his kids, Ashlin, Bailey, and Cole.

Mile also had a love affair with his 1972 Chevelle Laguna with the hope of restoring it one day. You could always find Miles and his brother, Garry, in the garage working on the old Chevelle.

Miles and Garry shared the passion of lifting weights, you could often find them in the basement or garage working out and comparing muscles. To this day, we still don't know which one was bigger or stronger.

If you were ever looking for good conversation and a hot cup of coffee, Miles's door was always open. Miles and his son, Sam, shared a common character trait where they often drove around with a cup full of coffee without ever spilling a drop.

There was never a day that Miles went without a bowl full of porridge and his peanut butter bread. There were many times that his son, Dire, would be at his house enjoying a bowl porridge with Dad while also eating a loaf bread with peanut butter. Miles could never figure out how he could eat that whole loaf of with that one bowl of porridge.

Miles will forever be loved and missed deeply by his family and friends.

No formal funeral services will be held. Those wishing to do so may pay their respects at the Maple Creek Cemetery where Miles is buried next to his mom, Darlene, in the North East part of Block 5.
