Nona Arlene (Winje) Smid

The family of Nona Arlene Smid are sad to announce her passing, June 17, 2019 at the Meadows in Swift Current. Nona was born June 29, 1922 at White Bear, SK. She was predeceased by her husband, Sikko Smid; and parents, Anton and Anna Winje; and sister, Hanna Graham.

She is survived by daughter, Arlene (Gerald) Kleutsch; sons, Dennis (Madelon), and Barry; her grandchildren, Michael (Debbie) Kleutsch, Michelle (Jeff) Ellenton, Ryan (Lisa) Smid, Rene (Ron) Thiele; great grandchildren, Crystal Denis, Ashley Kleutsch, Lisa (Dale) Caulkins, Shawna (Willy) Clark, Curtis Ellenton, Piper Cherry, Tatyana and Natalya Smid; and great-great grandsons, Oakley, Lyric and Cruz Denis, and Quincy Clark.

Nona farmed with her husband in the White Bear area until 1974 when she moved to Swift Current. Her favourite times were spent on the farm and at her cabin at Clearwater Lake. She loved her flower gardens and visits from family; and had a special bond with cats. In Swift Current, she boarded participants in the Southwest Homes program as well as facilitating in other group homes.

Laughter was her gift!

According to her wishes, her family will hold a private graveside service at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Southwest Homes, Swift Current.
