O'Della Norma Driedger
February 22, 1920 ~ January 16, 2025 (age 104) 104 Years Old

O’Della Norma Driedger (Roset) is lovingly known as Mom, Grandma, Grandma Della Della, Mother by love, Stepmom, Step-grandma, Step-great-grandma, Adopted Grandma, Aunt and Friend. O’Della passed away on January 16, 2025 at the Meadows Care Home in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. O’Della was born in Gouldtown, Saskatchewan on February 22, 1920. Her parents were Bent and Eline Roset. She received her elementary education at Lowfarm School, high school by correspondence and training to be a teacher at Moose Jaw Normal School. She married George Driedger on July 12, 1945. They had three daughters Georgina, Marilyn and Joanne. O’Della worked as a schoolteacher and as a farmer’s wife. She loved to work and spend hours working in her garden, hauling grain, working with the cattle and cooking for harvest crews.
She was a committed Christian and was actively engaged in church work as well as the Gouldtown community. O’Della enjoyed playing games, reading and spending time with family and friends. It wasn’t until retirement that work slowed down. After the death of her husband George, O’Della retired to Swift Current. Here she became active in Trailview Alliance Church. In 1998, O’Della married Ben Giesbrecht. They together enjoyed travelling, going to the cabin at the lake, playing games and had an active social life. O’Della is best known for her love for people, her love for God and her desire to have the love of God shine through her to others as well as being a woman of prayer. Her love for life, her genuine interest in others, her fun-loving nature and sense of humor as well as her love for God will be her lasting legacy. O’Della was well loved and will be deeply missed.
O’Della is survived by her daughters Marilyn Driedger and Joanne (Ken) Wiens; her grandchildren Jeffrey (Amber) Wiens and Curtis Wiens; her great-grandchildren Kaitlyn Wiens and Ryan Wiens; her children by love Peco Nagai and Bruce Klaassen; her sister-in-law Myrtle Zacharius (Clarence); as well as many nieces and nephews. O’Della’s stepchildren include Sydney (Joanne) Giesbrecht, Audrey (Terry) Klippenstein, Jeanette (Al) Bailey;step-grandchildren Christopher (Jessica) Giesbrecht, Kim (Kurt) Peters, Meagan (Marcus) Olson, Jeff (Robyn) Maguire, Chad (Jerilyn) Klippenstein, Scott (Ella) Klippenstein, Rhett (Sara) Klippenstein, Danielle Bailey (Sven Thomas), Katlyn (Mac) Johnson, Joseph (Deanna) Bailey; and 19 step-great-grandchildren.
O’Della was predeceased by her parents Bent and Eline Roset; her first husband George Driedger; her second husband Ben Giesbrecht; her daughter Georgina; her brothers Chester Roset, Oscar Roset, Ted Roset and Wilfred Roset; her sisters Hazel (Forge) and Gladys Roset; and her stepdaughter Joan Maguire.
