Orlene Loose Obituary

It is with great sadness, that the family of Orlene Loose (Sauder), age 86, announce her passing on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at the Gull Lake Special Care Centre, Gull Lake, SK.

Orlene Jeanette Loose was born on May 23, 1937 at Rush Lake, SK to Adam & Clara Sauder, the first of their three children. Orlene “Mom” attended Centre Spring School until grade eight. She worked alongside her beloved father and mother on the family farm. Orlene married Archie Loose on April 17, 1955. They started their home and the family farm on the SW 20-17-11-W3 northwest of Rush Lake in 1960.

Mom was a hardworking farmer and homemaker. She managed all the duties of running a household, raising a family, tending the garden, canning fruit and vegetables, baking, cake decorating, sewing, raising chickens and pigs, milking cows, feeding the livestock and jumping in to help with seeding, baling and harvest. Her culinary skills were not only envied by her family, but by anyone who ever enjoyed a meal at her house. She kept an immaculate yard with a bountiful vegetable garden, fruit trees, beautiful flowers, and a rose garden. Her green thumb and knowledge of how to grow almost anything resulted in many compliments from neighbors and friends. Mom and Dad loved to play Ludo, which was enjoyed many times with family, friends and even the great-grandchildren.

Orlene is survived by her daughter, Laurel & Randy Dyck – their children, Jennifer Juuti (Margo and Jake) and Curtis & Chalci Dyck (Daemon and Millie); her son-in-law, Greg & Michele Shaw – their children, Brittany & Leyen Ruest (Leo, Sam and Alex), and Duncan & Halee Shaw (Owen), Dylan and Kris Gloeckler; her son, Wade & Sherry Loose – their daughter, Emily; her son, Greg Loose – his children, Shelby & Tyce Hattum (Kasen), and Jaden & Dalton Menke; her brother Glen & Lyn Sauder; her sister, Carol Struck; and by many extended family members, nieces and nephews. Orlene was predeceased by her husband, Archie; a daughter, Wendy Shaw; her great-granddaughter, Charlotte Dyck; her parents, Adam & Clara Sauder; her parents in-law, Jacob & Mary Loose; and by her brother-in-law, Ole Struck.

Orlene’s family would like to thank the staff at the Gull Lake Special Care Centre for their care and compassion and to all the staff at Riverview Estates.
