Patricia (Pat) Aldag

Pat Aldag, age 77, passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current, SK, after a long, courageous battle with kidney disease.

Patricia “Pat” Aldag was born on May 6, 1946, in Stockton-on-Tees, England, to Fred & Mary Graves. At the age of eleven, Pat moved with her family to Shaunavon, SK. After graduating from Shaunavon High School, she lived and worked in Regina, SK for a time. Pat met Barry Aldag from Gull Lake, SK, and they were married on December 1, 1970. They made their home in Shaunavon, SK, and raised their three children there.  They resided in Shaunavon until 2021, when due to their declining health, they moved to Swift Current, SK.

Pat was a creative soul who had many different hobbies such as sewing, cross stitching, and designing web pages. She built a large community of friends online, who shared her creative interests. In the past year, Pat spent a lot of time constructing adorable gnomes that she enjoyed gifting to others.  Pat was most passionate about spending time with family, especially her beloved grandchildren. She loved cooking large family meals where everyone would visit around the kitchen table.

Pat was short in stature (4’10 and ¾ inches), but she had a large personality. Pat was also the queen of back-handed compliments, which always led to several laughs for her family, these will continue to be a source of smiles for years to come. She had a strong heart, loved fiercely, and was as stubborn as they come, right up until the end. Pat was happy with the simple things: a cold Coke, a cigarette, and a salty turkey dinner.

We will throw some extra salt on the turkey for you this year, Mom. We love you and miss you.

Pat was predeceased by her parents, Fred & Mary Graves; her brother, Bill Graves; and by her in-laws, Louis & Alice Aldag.

Pat will be dearly missed by her husband of 52 years, Barry Aldag; her daughters, Tammy Arendt – her children, Kelsey and Grayson: Shonda Stevenson (Blaine) – their child Mackenzie (Talon); her son, Devon Aldag (Megan) – their children, Olive and Elliot; her sister, Linda Friesen (Ron); as well as numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and special friends.
