Peter Froese, age 86, passed away peacefully after a long struggle with congestive heart disease on August 19th 2025 at the Cypress House in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.
Pete was born on December 15, 1939 in the Cabri hospital. He grew up with his 6 older brothers north of Cabri in the Gavrelle District. In 1945, the family moved to Success where Pete started his education. After completing grade 9, Pete started working on the family farm full time. In 1960, Pete officially became a farmer when he started renting land East of Pennant, which he was able to eventually purchase.
In April of 1967, Pete married the love of his life, Sheila Brown. They began living on the home farm at Success. Their son Cameron was born on January 26, 1968 and their second son was born on May 1, 1972. Pete and Sheila raised their two sons on the family farm and continued farming until 2014. At that point, Pete began renting out his land and over the course of the next two years held two auctions and sold the farmyard.
Pete and Sheila then purchased a home in Swift Current at the Pioneer Estates. It was shortly after purchasing their new home that Sheila began her battle with cancer. Pete lost his wife to cancer in August of 2018.
A couple of years later, he moved to the Bentley retirement home until his most recent move to the Cypress House where he passed away.
Pete enjoyed going to Bronco games, having been a long- time season ticket holder. Pete and Sheila enjoyed several trips to the United States, Hawaii and Disney Land. Pete will be remembered for his strong work ethic and quiet manner. He will be missed by all who knew him.
