Phyllis Elnora Ann Goudy

The family of Phyllis Elnora Ann Goudy are saddened to announce her passing on July 22, 2026 in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 67. She was born on July 20, 1959 in Uranium City, Saskatchewan.

Phyllis attended School in Midale, SK at Midale Central School where she graduated in June of 1978. After graduation, she promptly enrolled at the International Bible College in Moose Jaw, SK.

By 1981 she was married with her first son, Steven, on the way. This was followed closely by the birth of her daughter Jo in 1982, and two more sons, Paul in 1984 and Michael in 1986.

Phyllis had an eclectic work history, as remembered by her children, including time as a Certified Nurse’s Aide at the Souris Valley Regional Care Centre and a few years working in various retail service positions in Weyburn, SK. As her children aged, she decided to move into the next phase of her life, and completed a Computer Programming course through CDI Business College in Regina, SK. While searching for work in this field, Phyllis found work as a bookkeeper close to her family in Oxbow, SK. She also gained experience in the world of insurance as a Licensing and Renewal specialist and as she applied the knowledge she quickly gained, worked and studied her way into a Licensed Broker position in a few private insurance firms, that took her to numerous cities and towns in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Eventually she applied for a position with SGI in Swift Current and began expanding her experience in adjusting and exploring other facets of the insurance world.

While work was important to her, Phyllis found her real joy as a mother and grandmother and tried to stay near her family. She truly cherished every minute with her children and grandchildren and loved babysitting, hosting a meal for a holiday, or just making a phone call to say hi or wish someone a Happy Birthday. If there was an important event, every effort was made, and no expense spared, to be there in person with a card, a hug, words of encouragement and pride, and of course, an “I Love You”.

In 2015 a late-stage cancer diagnosis blindsided Phyllis and her family. Without hesitation, she leaned on her faith and her relationship with God and set out to defeat her illness. She declared that everything would be OK because it was not her time. She stepped away from work for to have surgery followed by intensive rounds of chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Through the sickness and exhaustion her faith never wavered. When treatment was complete, and she’d had some time to recover, Phyllis was declared cancer free. This pattern continued as she repeatedly received cancer free diagnoses at every follow-up appointment. God always received all the Glory.

Phyllis was pre-deceased by her parents Archie and Ida Goudy (nee Kolke), and numerous aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her: Brother Robert (Nelda); Sister Lillian Children – Kelly, Wayne, Daniel, Micheal

Son – Steve (Galina) and granddaughters Arianna and Ksenija ; Daughter – Jo (Shaun), Children - Azriel, Isaiah, Ezrela, Grady, Samara, Jore, Spencer ; Son – Paul (Juland) ; Son – Michael (Chelsey) Children – Brandon, Bohde, Beckam

Words From Her Family

If you asked her, Mom would tell you that her family and relationship with God were the most significant things in her life. More than anywhere else, she found purpose joy and fulfillment with the people she loved, and through the beliefs that guided her. Rather than material possessions or social standing, Mom measured accomplishments through the love she gave and strength of her faith. Those who truly knew her, felt her love and joy through the way she spoke and cared for them, and she truly believed that she could share God’s love and compassion through each interaction. She strived to live a life of purpose through her spiritual connection and lived to share her beliefs and their rewards with all those around her.

A celebration of Phyllis’ life will be held at the Alpine Church of God at 925 2nd Ave E in Swift Current, SK on August 5th, 2026 at 1pm.

Those in attendance are encouraged to bring a memory, story or memento to share with her friends and family and honor the legacy of compassion, joy and love that she left with them.

Immediately following the service, a luncheon will be provided at the Community Hall in Waldeck, SK, where Phyllis made her home. Her children and their families will join guests at the hall after a private interment.
