Ray Bingham, age 92, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at the Meadows, Swift Current, SK with his wife of 61 years, Faye, by his side.
Lloyd Raymond “Ray” Arthur Bingham was born May 16, 1927 on the family farm in the Hazlet, SK area to Arthur & Vera Bingham. Ray married Faye Irene Rudy on August 6, 1958 in Moose Jaw, SK. Together, they raised their children — Bruce and Leasa. He was always very proud of his family and took great joy in the eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren that later joined the family.
Ray worked as a grain buyer for over forty years with the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool and loved what he did. The love of nature and the outdoors ran deep, and he spent many hours hunting, fishing, and camping with his family. He also loved horses, as is evidenced by the photo of Ray as a boy with a young colt — a memory he cherished, the photo was displayed in his room and he would look at it every day. Ray was known as “Mr. Fix-It,” as there wasn’t anything he couldn’t repair, and he could also make something out of nothing. He was an excellent storyteller, and his stories will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ray is survived by his wife, Faye Bingham; his children, Bruce (Colleen) and Leasa (Glen); his grandchildren and their families, Justin (Brittany) (their children, Kahlen, Pierce, and Declan), Samantha (Cory), Tova, Keeva (her child, Raelynn), Vanessa (Jason) (their children, Brock and Felicia), Tiffany (Ryan) (their children, Aura and Asher), Cheri (Dean) (their children, Charlie and Emerson), and Desmond (Holly) (their children, Sophie and Syvie); his sisters, Evelyn and Beverley; and by his nieces and nephews.
Ray was predeceased by his parents, Arthur & Vera; and by his brothers, Jim, Floyd, and Dennis.
At Ray’s request, no formal funeral services were held. A come and go reception was held on Saturday, August 31, 2019 from the Meadows.
In lieu of flowers and in memory of Ray Bingham, donations to the Meadows Auxiliary (#308 230 Lister Kaye Crescent, Swift Current, SK, S9H 0A2) or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
