Rene Trifaux Obituary

It is with profound sadness that the family of Rene Trifaux announces his passing on February 5th, 2025, with his wife of over 50 years, Patricia Trifaux (née Perkins), by his side at their home in Swift Current, SK.

Rene was born in Farciness, Belgium, on October 7th, 1934, to Rene and Marguerite Trifaux. In May of 1953, he immigrated to Canada with his family. Over the years, Rene worked in various fields, but his long term career was truck driving, logging millions of miles across North America. His career was more than just a job; it was a blend of professional pride and a deep appreciation for the landscapes, people, and culture he encountered at every stop. Horses and dogs held a special place in his heart throughout his life.

Rene’s journey through life was filled with rich experiences. From his childhood in Belgium to working in the Congo as a teen, traveling on a cargo ship to Newport, Virginia, and making his way across Canada by Greyhound to Ottawa, Regina, Calgary, and Vancouver Island, his travels shaped the man he became. He eventually settled in Calgary, where he fell in love with Patricia, creating cherished memories before retiring to Swift Current. His life was a mix of joys, sorrows, and everything in between, but through it all, he remained devoted to his family and his faith.

Known for his creativity and hands-on nature, Rene spent his free time fixing vehicles or crafting his “one-of-a-kind” inventions. He was a man who wore his heart on his sleeve, always with a tool close by. He found comfort in watching good ol’ Western movies or listening to classical music when time allowed. Rene closely followed world events, from politics and business to environmental issues and global leadership. Above all, he believed strongly in his Maker.

Rene was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. His wit and sense of humor often lightened the mood, even when he was being serious. Rene was truly one of a kind and will be deeply missed. We take solace in knowing that, when the time is right, we will meet again.

Rene’s memory will live on and be forever cherished by his wife Patricia Trifaux; his children, Renee (Dan) Ofee, Tom Trifaux, Peter (Sharon) Trifaux, and Andrew (Lynn) Trifaux; his stepchildren, Betsy (Andy) Campbell, Don Perkins, Paul (Tammy) Perkins; his daughters-in-law, Lorigale Hazelton and Shelly Trifaux; his brother, Jack Trifaux of Invermere, BC; and his extended family in Belgium, including aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Rene was predeceased by his parents, Rene and Marguerite Trifaux; his son, Terry (Shelly); his infant daughter, Shelly; his sister, Roselyn; his stepson, Kenneth Perkins (Lorigale); and his daughter-in-law, Jackie (Tom).

There will not be a formal service, but a family gathering will be held at a later date.
