Ron Anderson, 79, died on Tuesday, October 20, 2020. He was born in Rosetown, SK to the late Charles and Lillian (Armstrong) Anderson. He was a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan with a bachelor’s and master’s degree. On May 8, 1965, Ron married Jean Penner and they celebrated 55 years of marriage.
Ron retired after a teaching career in Alberta and Rosetown and many years of farming. He taught various subjects and then used his broad hands-on skills teaching industrial arts toward the end of his career. He coached basketball, served with Gideons, and handed out New Testament Bibles within the schools. After teaching, he enjoyed time on the farm and in his shop. He was actively involved in his church, helped establish Boys Brigade, served in various roles, and supported summer camp ministries. He faithfully pursued the Lord and God’s will for his life. We believe he has found rest in his heavenly home.
Ron and Jean enjoyed camping, traveling to Arizona in the winter months, and seeing his grandkids and family. He was also known as “Papa” and was thrilled to be part of each of the grandkid’s activities and special interests. We will all remember the little twinkle in his eye as he embraced these moments with each of them.
In addition to his wife, Jean, he is survived by their children: Darryl (April) Anderson, Patti (Brian) Neudorf, Craig (Christi) Anderson, and their seven grandchildren: Nicole and Megan Anderson, Mikayla and Clayton Neudorf, and Caitlin, Cara, and Callie Anderson.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Harley, Vicky (Capnerhurst), and Dennis.
The Celebration of Life for Ron Anderson was held Thursday, October 29, 2020 at 1:30 from Bridgeway Community Church, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Bob Cappelle and Pastor Ryan Van Reeuwyk officiating. Special music was given by Jeff, Donna, and Cody Keith, who sang “How Great Thou Art,” “Because He Lives,” and “I Want to Stroll Over Heaven with You” for those in attendance. Tributes were given by Patti Neudorf and Craig Anderson, and by Nicole, Megan, and Cara Anderson on behalf of all Ron’s grandkids. The ushers in the church were Paul Wiens, Jordon Jensen, and Armand Gilchrist.
Bill & Donna Keith, Duane & Irene Martinson, and Willie & Darlene Braun served as Honorary Pallbearers. The Private Family Interment Service was held at the Rosetown Cemetery, Rosetown, SK.
