Ron Froshaug Obituary

Ron Froshaug, age 78, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK. Ronald Douglas Froshaug was born February 13, 1944 to Doran & Marjorie Froshaug in Kincaid, SK. He attended McCord School for grades one through eight and Glentworth Central School for grades nine through eleven. Grade twelve was completed by correspondence and Ron received his GED. Later, he obtained his Journeyman Certificate in Mechanics.

Throughout his working career, Ron managed Beaver Lumber in Lemberg, SK and Prince Albert, SK before moving to Shaunavon, SK. He was a salesman at the Ford dealership in Shaunavon and owned and operated a gravel truck with the Department of Highways. Before retiring, Ron was the owner and operator of Shaunavon Tire & Alignment from 1976 to 2008.

Ron loved to plan and build — he built two houses for his family in Shaunavon and in 1975, he built the family cabin in Cypress Hills, SK where he moved after retiring in 2008. He was known by many as a hard worker. He was also known to be very kind and generous, offering his assistance to anyone that needed it. Ron loved his community and sat on the Shaunavon Town Council for nine years, he served as Mayor for three years.

Ron loved to travel, hunt, fish, read, and go camping — which was perfect for life in Cypress Hills and a love that he passed along to his family. Ron was a devoted father and grandfather, many fond family memories were made camping and fishing, and on family holidays. The cabin in Cypress was very special and his family has many happy memories from time spent there with him.

Dad — you will be lovingly missed and always remembered.

Ron is survived by his daughter, Andrea (Darren) Wellbrock (Cabri, SK); his grandsons, Brandon Bissonnette, Liam Bissonnette, and Jaret Wellbrock; his bonus grandsons, Cole, Ryder, Rogan, and Rudy Wellbrock; his brothers, Bob (Carol) Froshaug (Regina, SK) and Alan Froshaug (Regina, SK); his brother, Lorne Froshaug’s, life partner, Debbie Larder (Saskatoon, SK); his nieces and nephews and their families; and by many lifelong friends he made over the years.

Ron was predeceased by his son, Jason Froshaug, on June 6, 2012 (Swift Current, SK); his mother, Marjorie Froshaug (nee McCrae) (1957); his father, Doran Froshaug (1983); his stepmother, Bessie Froshaug (1998); his brothers, Randolph Froshaug (1979), Ralph Froshaug (2016), and Lorne Froshaug (2022); and by his sister-in-law, Linda Froshaug (2003).
