Ruby Johnson

It is with great sadness the family of Ruby Johnson (nee Baskerville), age 98 announce her peaceful passing on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at the Meadows, Swift Current, SK. Ruby was born October 9, 1921 to Philip Edward & Winnifred Amy (nee Seller) Baskerville on the family farm near Hazlet, SK.

Ruby married Carl Magnus Johnson on November 2, 1938 in Gull Lake, SK. They raised four children on the farm before moving to Swift Current in 1948, where two more children were born. Ruby was a very skillful lady. She loved to knit, crochet, sew, and tend to her beautiful plants. But she especially loved her family. She was a member of the farmer’s market and the gun and hobby show, where she would sell all of her crafts.

Ruby was predeceased by her husband, Carl Magnus Johnson; son, Carl Edward Johnson; daughter, Marion June Nevills; son-in-law Norm Angott; granddaughters, Stephanie and Amanda Jordheim, and Karla Angott; great-granddaughter, Dakota Cadotte and Christina Goertz; parents, Philip & Winnifred Baskerville; brothers, Todd, Edward, and Samuel Baskerville; sister, Amy Doyle; brothers-in-law, Lorne Doyle and Stuart Madden; and by her sisters-in-law, Patricia Baskerville and Francis Baskerville.

Ruby leaves to mourn her passing her son, Glen (Judith) Johnson (Allan, SK); her daughters, Betty (Bud) Olson (Drayton Valley, AB), Debbie (Tom) Matthews (Swift Current, SK), and Wanda (John) Burgess (Swift Current, SK); her daughter-in-law, Sharon Johnson (Blutcher, SK); her son-in-law, Tim Nevills (Mindemoya, ON); her grandchildren and their families, Milissa, Milinda, Miles, Milo, Krash, Trevor, Twyla, Shavonne, Kelly, Annette, Brandy, Tanya, Crystal, Janelle, and Scott; her twenty great-grandchildren; her six great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Winnifred Madden (Brandon, MB); her brother, Bob Baskerville (Swift Current, SK); and by many nieces and nephews.

The family would especially like to thank the Meadows – House 22 for all of their excellent and loving care that was given to Ruby.

The Graveside Service for Ruby Johnson was held on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at 10:30 am from Mount Pleasant Burial Park, Swift Current, SK with Rev. Dr. Greg Kiel officiating. In memory of Ruby Johnson, donations made to the Alzheimer’s Society and the Meadows Auxiliary would be appreciated by the family.
