Scott McVicar Obituary

Scott McVicar, age 28, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 18, 2023 in Swift Current, SK.

Scott is survived by his mom, Cheryl McVicar; his special friend, Ruth Orola; his brother, Aaron McVicar; his nieces, Khloe and Zoey McVicar; his grandmother, Betty Shatosky; his uncles and aunts, Rick (Bev) Shatosky, Tracy (Darren) Angell, Brett (Jody) Shatosky, Ed McVicar, and Christopher (Bobby) McVicar; his great-aunt, Judy Shatosky; and by many cousins.

Scott was predeceased by his father, Andrew McVicar (May 25, 2021); and by his grandparents, Marvin Shatosky (2017) and Joseph & Laverne McVicar.

Scott Christian McVicar was born on April 13, 1994 in Saskatoon, SK. He enjoyed video games, action movies, and participated in several different sports — he especially loved wrestling and karate. Whatever Scott was doing, he always had a best friend to join him.

In November of 2007, the family moved to Swift Current. After graduating from high school, Scott took a welding course at Great Plains College in Swift Current. He didn’t find a job in that field that he liked and was welcomed back to Swift Current Building Supplies. Scott had worked there part-time during high school and then five and a half days a week until his passing.

In March of 2022, Scott bought his own home, which he enjoyed looking after and making his own, and he adopted a cat named Benny. He loved to cook and BBQ, the good people of the Spring Lake and Hodgeville Hutterite Colonies kept him well supplied with fresh meat, eggs, and baking. He also liked to lift weights and spend time with family and friends.

Scott was a very good uncle to his nieces and was growing into an amazing young man. He was kind, thoughtful, generous, and supportive of his family, friends, and coworkers. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Scott — your life was a blessing and your memory is a treasure.

A Private Memorial Service was held at the Swift Current Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, March 3, 2023. The service card is available to view below.
