Susan Wiebe Obituary

Susan was born in Rosenort, SK on November 14, 1923 to Peter & Maria (Giesbrecht) Wiebe. Maria died shortly after Susan’s birth. From infancy, Susan was raised by her aunt and uncle, Jacob and Elizabeth Wiebe. She was privileged to know and love both families.

Susan’s birth family siblings were Peter, Jake (Elsie), Marie (Ruben) Banman , Nick (Frances), Tina (Adolf) Neufeld, and John (Ruth). Her siblings in her adoptive family were Jake (Tina), Henry (Agatha), Elizabeth (Peter) Wall, John (Margaret), Nick (Helen), Sarah (George) Krahn, and Mary (Ed Klassen). Aunt Susie is survived by her sister-in-law Helen Wiebe and many nieces and nephews — great, great-great, and triple great!

Susan took her nurses training in Moose Jaw, SK and worked for a few years in the Milden Hospital, Milden, SK. She worked the remainder of her nursing career at the Swift Current Union Hospital until her retirement at the age of 65.

She always said she loved her nursing profession, but she enjoyed retirement in equal measure!! She took many holidays across North America with friends and family. Susan was a woman of deep faith in Christ. She loved her home that her dad and brother built and enjoyed her garden and flowers.

She was blessed with and was always thankful for good health until a few days before she left this earth at the age of 98 on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK.

The Funeral Service for Susan Wiebe was held on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 11:00 am from the Swift Current Funeral Home Chapel, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Alex Allan officiating. “Great is Thy Faithfulness” and “It is Well” were sung by the congregation under the leadership of Karan Regier, with Sharon Penny serving as pianist. Special music was brought by Karan Regier, who sang “What a Day That Will Be.” The tribute was given by Peggy Bell. The Interment Service was held following the Funeral Service from Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK with Adam Gmeinweser, Jarrod Klassen, Landen Klassen, Pryston Holfeld, John McDonald, and James McGuire serving as Pallbearers.
