Tony went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at the age of 24. He died
peacefully in his sleep and had no pre-existing health issues.
Tony Daniel Friesen was born December 22, 2000 in Regina, Sask. The first years of his life
were not easy and he was eventually placed in a foster home where he was well cared for. He joined the
family of Blaine and Donna Friesen on January 19th, 2009 where he became the youngest of five
siblings, Grant, Paula, Dea and Mandy. Daniel joined them later in 2016. Life on the farm was different
from his life in the city and Tony had a lot more freedom and space to explore. He learned to ride a bike
which was something he loved to do.
He enjoyed going to church at Wymark EMC and worshipping with the people there. Tony
loved Jesus and on November 17th, 2017 he realized that he was a sinner and trusted Jesus as his Lord
and Saviour. He was baptized on July 11, 2021 . Tony enjoyed going to youth group at the Rhineland
and later attended Bridgeway church in Swift Current. He read his Bible faithfully. Tony was very
concerned that everyone around him knew Jesus too and wasn't scared to ask people if they were a
Christian and knew Jesus.
Tony went to camp at Cypress Bible Camp for a number of years and even spent one summer
helping out there. It was the highlight of his year and he was hoping to go back and help out in the
future.
We had many adventures as a family and Tony learned to help out. He could get a lot of work
done if he wanted to. He stacked many bales and helped out with the chores. He helped in the garden,
planting and digging potatoes and picking peas and beans, apples and tomatoes. He enjoyed cooking
and helping out with meal prep.
Tony decided that he was not going to be a farmer so we started to look at options and found
South West Homes. In April of 2024, he moved to Crawford House in Swift Current. The staff and
residents there welcomed him with open arms and Jarrod, Harvey and Todd treated Tony like a younger
brother. They soon had Tony going to hockey games, bowling and even going to a Roughrider game.
Tony enjoyed being the life of the party and it's hard to find a picture of him without a silly face. They
live right on the bike path and Tony and his friend Tim spent many hours and miles on their bikes. They
even biked out to Grandma and Grandpa Friesen's for coffee – a more than 20 km round trip.
Tony also enjoyed crafts and built what he called his “Car town” from cardboard and toy Hot
Wheels cars hot glued together. He went through many glue sticks! He would often make small crafts
or buy small gifts for people to show his love.
Tony is survived by his parents, Blaine and Donna Friesen; siblings Grant (Rebecca), Paula
(Dan) Gammel, Dea (Tom) Klassen, Mandy (Jesse) Neufeld and Daniel; nieces and nephews, Patrick,
Shawn, Theresa and Esther Friesen and Benjamin Gammel; and grandparents, Paul and Betty Funk and
John and Ruth Friesen; and many uncles and aunts and cousins and extended family and friends.
Tony will be waiting when we get to Heaven and will want to take everyone around and show
them the projects he has been working on.
