After a long battle with Alzheimer’s, Trudy Voth (nee Epp), age 72, of Herbert, SK, passed away on Sunday, March 8th, 2026 with family at her side.
Trudy Faye Voth was born on April 4th, 1953, to Alvin & Helen Epp in St. Catharines, ON, the eldest daughter of seven children. She was baptized on October 15th, 1967. After High School, Trudy attended Bethany Bible Institute where she met Don, a farm boy from Herbert, SK. Trudy & Don were married on September 21st, 1974 and they made their home in St. Catharines, ON. A few years later their family of two grew to a family of three with the arrival of Krista, and then a family of four when Charity arrived. In 1980 Trudy & Don made the long move back to the farm in Herbert. After a few years the family was complete with the birth of Amanda.
Trudy was an incredibly warm-hearted lady, and she had a gift for being a wonderful friend. She was highly involved with Church either in Sunday School, Pioneer Girls, choir, or the Christmas banquets. Trudy was more than willing to head to town for coffee with the ladies, quilting, crafting, or birthday party shenanigans. She was also involved with the Youth Group, especially when it was announced from the pulpit that the Youth Group was at the Voth farm, and there was a rumour doughnuts were being made. Trudy worked many weeks as a cook at Summer Camp, making sure all our friends knew she could be a ‘Mom’ to them too. She also loved her work at the Herbert Nursing Home, spending 11 years working in the kitchen. Trudy loved hosting people at their house, and it wasn’t uncommon for her to pull a freshly made pie out of the oven just as unexpected company showed up and the coffee pot was always on.
Trudy also had a great love for the outdoors. Daily walks with the dog, hours working in her veggie gardens and then hours spent putting up the veggies for winter or just watching the bees in the flower gardens. Many summer camping trips or hikes in the parks. Helping Don in the corrals with the cows or on the kitchen floors with the calves. If the weather was nice, she could be found outside, or even if it wasn’t she just bundled up more.
Trudy was predeceased by her grandson, Russell; her parents, Alvin & Helen Epp; her in-laws, Albert & Adena Voth; and by her brother, David Epp. She will be missed by many including her husband, Don; her children, Krista & Jeff Wiebe, Charity & Mike Zwarich, Amanda Voth & Travis Byrd, Melissa & Kevin ter Steege; her grandchildren, Cody, Crispin, Aria, Natalya, Dominic, Kailey, Trace, Luke, Elijah, Emma and Isaac; her siblings, Don & Eve, Dennis & Maggie, Robert & Cindy, Judy, Peggy & Jim; her siblings-in-law, Gerald & Joyce, Val & Dennis; and many nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
