Wayne Butler, age 70, of Success, SK, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon, SK, surrounded by his family. John Wayne Butler was born on April 28, 1954, to Jack & Frieda Butler. He grew up on the family farm in Success with his two brothers and one sister. Wayne married Laurie Evans on November 21, 1987. Together they raised their children on the family farm. Wayne was an active member in both his family and in the community of Success. Wayne was always the first to offer a hand to his neighbors also playing an integral role in keeping community events like the Success Sports Day running for all to enjoy. Wayne loved his family and would be the first person to the table dealing out cards for a game or two of smear. He took pride in all his kids and their accomplishments, and he especially loved his role as Papa. He would always make sure the kids had memorable experiences at the farm. In winter he would pull all the kids on the sled, Easter he always planned a special Easter egg hunt, in summer there was always a ride on the side-by-side to check cows, a ball in hand to play catch, or a cartoon to watch together, which was his way to sneak in an afternoon nap. Wayne is going to be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. There will be a great void left on the family farm and at the local coffee shop where his spot at the smear table will be hard to fill. Wayne is survived by his wife, Laurie; children, Christine (Lindsay), Ryan (Nina), Miranda (Orlando), Jackie-Lee (Terry); his precious grandchildren, Shaianne (Cody), Charley, Ryleigh, Adalynn, Emberly, Omellia, Neasha (Ryan), Theo; his great-grandchildren, Hadley and Navy; his sister, Shirley (Lyle); his brothers, Rick (Kathy) and Pete (Donna); and by his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents. The family wishes to extend gratitude to the staff at RUH 6300 and 6100, for the excellent care and compassion given to Wayne.
