Wayne Tkach Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Wayne Tkach, age 73, on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK, with his beloved wife, Allison, by his side.

Wayne Ronald Tkach was born on June 29, 1952, in Winnipeg, MB, to Harry and Mary Tkach. They have since passed away, as well as his brother Terry.

After completing his vocational education in high school, Wayne began a lifelong career as a mechanical engineering technologist. In 1979, he moved to Regina to take a position at Briggs Engineering, later joining Cochrane Engineering, and finally MacPherson Engineering, where he proudly worked until his retirement in 2019. His meticulous attention to detail, creativity, and remarkable writing and drawing skills made him an invaluable member of every team he was part of. This included any home project whether it was a deck, a sand box, a planter, or even a sign in front of their home.

Wayne met the love of his life, Allison, on a blind date in January 1992, arranged by dear friends Janet and Victor. Wayne & Allison were married on September 9, 1995 beginning a beautiful journey together filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures. Wayne lovingly welcomed Allison’s daughters, Lindsay and Ashley McGregor, into his heart, treating them as his own.

Wayne and Allison’s family grew to include their cherished grandchildren, Anica, Hayden, Ainsley, and Declan, who brought him endless joy. There were also many beloved fur babies, including their faithful dog, Ruby, who remains a loyal companion at 17 years old.

Wayne was known for his gentle spirit, kind heart, and playful sense of humour. He loved cruises, traveling with family and friends, puzzles, and Play-Doh. He took great delight in building and displaying his model trains and Christmas villages. Wayne also enjoyed friendly competition — especially when he was getting his “butt kicked” in Sequence (a family favourite), or mini golf.

Wayne’s legacy is one of love, creativity, and quiet strength. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and fondly remembered for his warmth, generosity, and the laughter he brought into every room.

Though his passing leaves a tremendous void, Wayne’s spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and in every puzzle piece, train track, and holiday village that carries his joyful touch.
