The family is saddened to announce the passing of William "Bill" Braun on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at The Meadows – Clover House, Swift Current, SK
Bill Braun was born on October 9, 1937 at Swift Current, SK to Franz & Susie Anna Braun, the eldest of seven children. Bill had very strong work ethics, providing for his mother and siblings after the passing of his father when Bill was a teen. Bill had formal education to grade 8 but was constantly learning all he could. His many interests and hobbies throughout his life attest to his wealth of knowledge and love of learning. From electronics to mechanical items, and wood working, Bill could fix, make, or repair many things. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, and camping with family and friends. Music was another one of his passions, playing guitar, singing and playing with a band performing in many senior homes.
Bill met Katherine "Kathy" Olfert at Rhineland Christian Fellowship Church, and they were married on June 17, 1961. This union was blessed with three girls who joined their family, Corinne, Teresa and Sharon. Bill’s Christian faith was essential to his everyday life.
Throughout his life, Bill worked as a truck driver and on a bridge crew building bridges. He became an oilfield welder and had his own rig for decades. He adapted to technology easily and was a ham radio operator, VE5 XT. Retirement brought new learning opportunities. Bill enjoyed volunteering at the MCC fixing and repairing items.
Bill leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Corinne Braun, Teresa & Michael Brown – their son, Matthew, and Sharon Braun; his siblings, Betty & John Butterfield, Tina & Mike Kryzanowski, Peter & Arlene Braun, John & Bernice Braun, and Sue Flynn; a sister-in-law, Marg Braun; and by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews who fondly referred to him as Uncle Bill. Two weeks ago, Bill was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Kathy; his parents, Franz & Susie Anna Braun; a brother, Frank Braun; and by a brother-in-law, Alan Flynn.
The family would like to thank the Cypress Regional Hospital and Clover House for the wonderful care of our dad.
