Zelda Wiebe Obituary

Zelda Mary Wiebe, age 93, of Hebert, Saskatchewan, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2020, at the Prairie Wind Estate Senior Facility in Herbert.

Zelda was predeceased by her husband, Alfred, in 1996; her parents, Elizabeth & Peter Penner; and by her siblings, Alice Priebe, Alvin Penner, and Verna Priebe.

She is survived by her daughters: Darcy (Ben) Friesen of Regina, SK, and Brenda (Bernie) Andres of Herbert, SK; her sons: Gary (Marion) Wiebe of Swift Current, SK, Randy Wiebe of Vancouver, BC, and Rob (Rhonda) Wiebe of Vancouver BC; her grandchildren, Rhonda (Harvey) Rempel of Winnipeg, MB, Lee Ann (Scott) Kopp of Hepburn , SK, Kimberly (Dale) Martens of Hepburn, SK, Ryan (Rachel) Friesen of Moose Jaw, SK, Timothy (Victoria) Friesen of Regina, SK, Michael (Jolayne) Friesen of Saskatoon, SK, Kirstin (Logan) Mathieson of Regina, SK, Brian (Michelle) Wiebe of Saskatoon, SK, Kelsey and Keira Wiebe of Vancouver, BC; her great-grandchildren: Jesse and Brooklyn Rempel of Winnipeg, MB, Olivia, Rachel, and Noelle Kopp of Hepburn, SK, Reece, Chloe, and Jack Martens of Hepburn, SK, Emmet, Jane and Hannah Friesen of Moose Jaw, SK, Gabriel, Zola, and Zuri Friesen of Regina, SK; a sister, Stella Enns of Herbert, SK; a brother, Reino (Doris) Penner of Regina, SK, two brothers-in-law, Cecil Priebe and Dennis Priebe both of Herbert, SK; and by a sister-in-law, Marie Cunningham of Bullhead City, Arizona.

Zelda was born on September 20, 1926 in Herbert, SK. She loved her large extended family, and never failed to remember birthdays. She was a great cook and housekeeper. Zelda had many interests: reading, crocheting, knitting, and traveling. Every fall and winter, she followed the curling bonspiels. She worked in the town and school libraries for a number of years. Zelda was a good conversationalist who could answer questions about the long period of history she witnessed.

Zelda was a woman of faith who loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a person who prayed for her family and others. Her family rejoices in the peace she has found. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. - 1 Corinthians 15:57 (ESB)

The Graveside Service was held on Monday, June 22, 2020 at 2:30 pm from the Herbert Cemetery, Herbert, SK with Pastor Ryan Friesen officiating. “The Lord’s Prayer” was sung by those in attendance. Scripture was read and tributes were shared in song and spoken word. Zelda’s Grandsons served as pallbearers.
