To the family of Helen Banmann,
I wish to offer my sympathy to you all on the passing of your dear Helen. I visited with her at times when visiting my Mom, Juverna Marken who was also a resident on 3rd floor at the Palliser. I came to find out that she was very interested in stamp collecting and so I brought her some stamps for Norway. She was so thankful and I always wished I had more to bring for her! I was so sorry to hear of her passing! May God bless you with His comfort and may the assurance of eternal life for the believer bring you peace at this sad time.

In my efforts to gather information about my Uncle Cornie and Aunt Helen Banman, I visited Helen Banman of Swift Current, SK. She was an unassuming older woman and I hoped she would have some information for me. To my great surprise she went to her extra bedroom (which, by the way, featured a large china cabinet filled with hundreds of salt and peper shakers from all over the world), opened the folding closet doors and calmly asked me which family I wanted the names of. Then, just as calmly, she tapped on her computer, found the family and printed off what I was looking for. While I was, at that time, still very much learning about genealogy programs, she obviously was many steps ahead of me! In her life time she gathered an incredible amount of genealogical and historical information about families, cemeteries and related Mennonite historical topics. My thanks to her and my condolences to her family. She was a gifted and hard working historian and generous in sharing what she had gathered. Her contributions will be appreciated for a very long time.
