My condolences to your family ..... It doesn't seem to matter how long we've gotten to enjoy and share in their lives it's a loss of so many stories yet to be told, a bit of wisdom or humour shared but such is life so we cherish the time we did have, the memories and stories and most of all the love.
Thank you for sharing uncle Jakes story.... I've only met him a few times myself but found him to be the warmest, gentlest of souls with a welcome smile and twinkle in his eyes that drew you in, wanting to be closer....he will surely be missed.

What a joy when I look back and remember our good times when I was his caregiver at Riverview. He appreciated everything we did for him and always had a smile. My husband always would stop at Sunday dinner to chat in German which they both enjoyed! Cherish your memories and know that he made a difference in the lives that he touched! My condolences to all.

My memories of Uncle Jake have always included his smile and his encouraging comments. I'm proud to have been a part of his family. God bless you as you say farewell to this wonderful, warm, caring gentleman. "Precious in the sight of God is the death of His Godly ones"

I loved this dear man, helping him and visiting at Riverview. I will miss him dearly, but know that he has gone "home" and I take comfort in knowing he is in a better place.
My condolences to all the family. May the Lord strengthen, encourage and give you comfort now and in the days ahead.

Although I never had the privilege of meeting Jake, he sounds like he was a wonderful man to spend some time with. I would have loved to have had the opportunity to listen to one of his many stories.
My heartfelt condolences go to the family, especially to Abe. May the memories live on.

Love from your sister-in-law LINDA.

I remember Uncle Jake coming to visit my Dad , his oldest brother Peter on the farm and share what was on his mind, perhaps advice might have been given as well.
I will remember his warm smile and handshake when visiting him at Riverview.
Family you are fortunate to have had him with you all these years, and yes you will also miss him but you can rejoice that he is with Jesus, waiting for all of us to join him. Love you all !!!

We were so sorry to hear of Jake's passing. He lived a long and full life. I always enjoyed spending time with him as he was a most interesting, humorous and knowledgeable person.

As the Care Director at Riverview Village Estates, I have fond memories of Mr. Wiens. Whenever I would stop in at his suite to say hello or check that he was doing okay he always had a smile and loved to chat. One day I remember asking him if he knew where he was going when he died. He smiled and me, pointed at his bible that was sitting on the table beside him and said, "I read this everyday and yes I am going to heaven when I die. Of that, I am sure." Then he looked at me again and said, "Do you know where you are going when you die?" I chuckled and said, yes sir I certainly do - I will see you in heaven too when I get there." That is the comfort we have - although we will miss him dearly - he is now walking on streets of gold praising his Savior, no more hearing aid, no more walker, he is praising and dancing and rejoicing. Thank you Mr. Wiens for the light that you were in my life. God bless you Wiens family members and may the God of all comfort, comfort you and keep you at this time of remembering and celebrating Mr. Jake Wiens. - Brenda Tataryn

I had hoped to be there as you celebrate your Dad's life and legacy on Thursday, but that will not be possible. My thoughts and prayers will be with all of you in the days ahead.

I had the privilege of many visits at Uncle Jake and Aunt Margaret's home - watching our dads play pool, being treated to a bottle of pop from the machine, listening to the conversations both serious and funny. Those are great memories that I will always treasure.

My mom and dad, Dale and Rozada Castle, lived next door to Jake and Margaret on Mckenzie Drive. They would visit back and forth. Our family sends our deepest sympathy to each of you.

I got to know Jake through my work at Wiens Petroleum, and it was always nice to visit with him. Although he seemed imposing we always got along. If there was an issue I would just blame it on Gerald and we were good. He has left a wonderful legacy in his family of strong, independent and intelligent children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
