Welcome to the memorial page for

Jorge "Marcelo" Vigueras

December 29, 2014
Jorge Marcelo Vigueras Zanetta, age 63, passed away suddenly at the Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon, SK on Monday, December 29, 2014. Marcelo was born on March 20, 1951, in Coronel, Chile, where he lived most of the first years of his life. After Chile’s coup d’etat in 1973, Marcelo was forced to move with his wife, Marcela, and several other family and friends to Buenos Aires, Argentina. While there, they were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Alejandra. In 1979, Marcelo and his family followed his brother, Claudio, to Canada and he spent the rest of his life in Swift Current, SK. On his first trip back to Chile from Canada in 1992, he met his wife, Georgina “Coca” Sandoval. Marcelo had many talents and passions. He was very athletic and excelled at soccer as well as track and field. He was very passionate about music and was an excellent guitarist and singer. When Marcelo was a teenager, he was a member of a Chilean Folk Group, which was composed of family and friends, winning at several festivals and were featured on radio programs. His involvement in politics shaped his destiny. Marcelo made a great Beeyo (grandfather) for Sofia and she definitely held a special place in his heart. Marcelo worked with Claudio for many years at A & V Painting, and most recently he helped Georgina at Taco Time. The affiliation with Taco Time resulted in him discovering Mexico, which was a favourite place to go on vacation with Georgina. Family was very important to Marcelo, therefore many hours were spent together, laughing and enjoying the finer things of life. Marcelo was predeceased by his father, Jorge Vigueras. He is survived by his wife, Georgina; his daughter, Alejandra & Mike Dyck; granddaughter, Sofia; mother, Cotty; brothers, Claudio (Linda), Aldo (Nancy); sisters, Vivianne, Toti (René), Claudia; nieces and nephews, Macarena, Romina (Roberto), Marco (Reneeta), Andrea (Jan), Raquel, Jorge, Chantal, Ivan, Ema; great-nephew, Leandro; special uncle, Tio Peyo, Tia Carmen, Pablo, Carolina and several other aunts, uncles, and cousins most of whom still reside in Chile.
