Lydia, what a very special lady she was!! We moved to Herbert in 2000 and met Lydia in 2001. We walked, talked, knitted and just visited often. In 2006 we moved to Regina and now to Daysland AB. Still we sent notes and phoned each other. Just a couple of days before her last visit to Herbert, we had a good talk. I know she is in a much better place, look forward to seeing her there. She will certainly be missed greatly, because she gave of her self greatly.

We were so saddened to hear of Lydia's passing. The time we spent with her while visiting Grandma (Violet Dyck) a few years back was wonderful. I even had her on the floor doing yoga. She was up for anything fun! We laughed a lot! We also shared a love for Tim Horton's and enjoyed a few of their coffees together. She was such a gift to Grandma who cherished their friendship. She would call Mom (Eleanor) from time to time to touch base and let her know that she visited Grandma in Herbert. Such a beautiful soul. She will be missed.

My wife Myrna and I had the privilege of working with Lydia for two years (in the early 60s) at the Herbert hospital. I was always impressed by her strong faith, her work ethic, and her strong character, and yet a quiet and humble servant attitude. But, working closely with the nurses, soon also discovered that deep down inside, there was an infectious, keen sense of humor. We enjoyed many a good laugh in the workplace over those years. What a great lady to work with. Many good memories.

Our condolences to the surviving family members. May God grant you a special measure of strength and comfort at this time of loss.

I have many wonderful childhood memories of stopping in Herbert on our way to Lethbridge. There was always a warm welcome in the Neufeld home.(She was mom Mom's cousin) Years later she gave our own children the Herbert experience, where Tante Lydia thoroughly spoiled them. She was an amazing woman who loved to laugh and have fun, while taking care of those around her with warmth and compassion. We were unable to make it to the funeral, unfortunately, but I am sure the celebration of her life was filled with laughter and tears as loved ones recalled happy memories of her. Our sincere condolences go out to all those who knew and loved her well.

It is true that Lydia was a modern day Dorcas. In the many years she worked in the Herbert hospital she offered comfort and care to her community. Our deepest sympathies, especially to her family that was especially dear to her. She will be missed.

To all of Lydia's Family, I am sorry to hear of your loss. She was such a kind, gentle person and I have many fond memories of her as Mom and I were also blessed with her good baking on occasion. My sister Cheryl also worked with her at the hospital and she cherished her working relationship and friendship very dearly. Thinking of you all at this difficult time. Sincerely, Dallas Toews

I will always remember Lydia's genuine concern for anyone in need. She exemplified a servant heart in the truest sense of the word. While I was employed at the Herbert Group Home in the nineties, we moved into a new Group Home just across the street from Lydia and so we soon became good friends. She would invite us over for a delicious supper served on her best china and made each of the residents feel very special. This was so much appreciated by us as staff there. My frienship with her continued and I fondly recall the last time she called to have a chat about a month ago. God bleess the memory of Lydia Neufeld.
