Peter Hildebrandt

Peter Hildebrandt, age 80, passed away peacefully at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 with his family at his side. Peter was born in Blumenhof, SK on September 16, 1936 to Isaac & Mary Hildebrandt. Peter attended school in Blumenhof and enjoyed the company of many neighborhood friends. He started farming at an early age with his dad and brothers. Peter married Anne Froese in December 1961. They lived and farmed together in Blumenhof. They also farmed along with their son Wayne, and in recent years, their daughter-in-law, Patti. Peter enjoyed camping and travelling with his family to the mountains. They took numerous trips to Alberta, BC, and Montana. Peter & Anne also have wonderful memories of their trips to Hawaii. Peter loved to spend time with his grandchildren, he especially loved being outside with them and taking them on many tractor rides. Peter had an interest in old cars and tractors and enjoyed attending farm shows and auction sales, he continued to farm as long as his health allowed. Peter faithfully attended church at Blumenhof and Rhineland and had great faith and served the Lord in his quiet way. Peter is dearly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Anne Hildebrandt; his children, Wayne (Patti) Hildebrandt, Charlene McAuley, Karen (Des) Wiens, Lori (Frank) Ward, and Terilynn (Ian) Schofield; he was a wonderful Grandpa to Riley Wiens, Brittany Wiens, Isaac McAuley, Justin Ward, Makayla Ward, Matthew Schofield, and Sean Schofield; his brothers, Henry Hildebrandt and Jake Hildebrandt; his numerous brothers and sisters-in-law; and by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, George McAuley; his parents, Isaac & Mary Hildebrandt; his siblings, John Hildebrandt and Alma Reinheimer; and by several brothers and sisters-in-law.

The Funeral Service was held on Monday, January 2, 2017 at 2:00pm from the Bridgeway Community Church, Swift Current, SK, with Pastor Dwayne Easton and Pastor Alvin Buhler officiating.  The pianist for the service was Leona Knelsen. “What a Friend We Have In Jesus”, “The River” and “In the Sweet By and By” were sung by the congregation. Special music was provided by the Easton family and Frank Ward. Tributes were shared by Isaac McAuley. The ushers in the church were Gordon Peters, Harry Friesen, Steve Peters, and Tim Knelsen. The Private Interment Service was held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK with the following serving as pallbearers, Wayne Hildebrandt, Des Wiens, Ian Schofield, Frank Ward, Riley Wiens, and Isaac McAuley.
