WAGNER - Remigius "Rem", age 89, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2014, at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK. Rem is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Frances; sisters, Fanny Guckert, Teri (Don) Taylor; brother, Roy (Anne) Wagner; sisters-in-law, Selma Wagner, Elizabeth Bonogofski, Anne Bonogofski, Elizabeth Sannes, and Agnes (Tony) Heck; brothers-in-law, Peter Bonogofski, Tony (Margorie) Bonogofski, Mike Guckert, Isidore (Shirley) Bonogofski, and Greg Bonogofski; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Clara & Anton Wagner; mother & father-in-law, Dorothea & Isidore Bonogofski; brother, Frank Wagner; and by a brother-in-law, Jack Guckert. Rem was born on November 27, 1925, on his family's farm south of Leader, SK. He was the third of five children and attended school in Dirksburg. On September 28, 1948, he married Frances Bonogofski in Prelate. In 1949, Rem & Frances moved to Gavrelle School where Frances taught and Rem worked for many years as a mechanic at Horsts Garage. In 1963, Rem started farming and he and Frances moved into Cabri. He loved playing accordion and played in bands for many dances, weddings and at senior care homes. He was an avid cribbage player and looked forward to every Wednesday and Thursday when he would go to Brian's Autobody to play cribbage. He was on the St. Joseph's Parish Council for many years and was a member of the Eagles and just recently~ received his 35 year pin. He was also involved with the Cabri Bulldogs for many years. Rem loved children and they loved him too. He would give every child a quarter and with inflation that changed to loonies and then toonies. He always had jelly beans in his pocket for every child. All he asked for in return was a smile. He never had a mean word to say about anyone. His colourful stories and quick-wit will be missed by his friends and family. The Funeral Mass was held on Thursday, December 11, 2014 from the Cabri Community Hall at 11:00 am with Father Prince Kurisinkal, celebrant. The pianist for the service was Cindy Nelson and the guitarist was David Hagel. Tony Wagner read Wisdom 4 and Robert Heck read Romans 14. The ushers were Kristopher Bonogofski and Manny Weisgerber. The Private Family Interment Service was held at the Cabri Cemetery with Jason Bonogofski, Elliott Guckert, Lloyd Guckert, Robert Heck, Bob Wagner, and Tony Wagner serving as pallbearers. In memory of Rem Wagner, donations made to The Cabri Hospital Auxiliary, Box 79, Cabri, SK, S0N 0J0 would be appreciated by the family.
