Richard Remple

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Richard I. Remple, age 86, on Monday, June 1, 2015, at the Cypress Regional Hospital, after a brief illness. Richard was born on June 6, 1928, in Swift Current, SK to Dick & Elizabeth Remple. He grew up in Swift Current in a large family and received his schooling at Oman School and at SCCI. In 1949, he married Jean Switzer and they enjoyed 66 years together. Richard was mostly self-employed after he started with F.W.Woolworth's. Together with Jean, they owned and operated the Busy Bee Cafe and Polar Beverages. He also sold investments, and real estate through Swift Realty. He retired very young and from then on, Richard & Jean travelled extensively with trips to many exotic destinations including China, the Soviet Union, the Amazon, South America and Europe. He loved to shop for treasures for everyone at home. Richard & Jean also enjoyed many winters in Mazatlan, Mexico. He was a family man first, a generous host, an avid reader, a gardener, a wine-maker, a fisherman and so much more. Throughout his life, Richard had a great interest in his family and also in world events and politics. He was always busy with projects and was eager to help family members with anything they were doing. Painting was his specialty and he used brown paint by the gallon every spring. Richard loved jokes of all kinds and had a keen sense of humour. Richard was predeceased by his parents, Dick & Elizabeth Remple. He is survived by his wife and constant companion, Jean; his daughter and son-in-law, Debbie & Lyle Simonson; his granddaughter, Kristen Simonson (Garry Koebel) and great-grandchildren, Olivia and Damon: and his granddaughter, Karin Simonson (Justin Stefanik) and great-granddaughter, Sigrid.

At Richard’s request, there will only be a Private Family Farewell. In memory of Richard Remple, donations made to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice would be appreciated by the family.
