My four children and I often talk of our lengthy and warm relationship with Rita whom I had enjoyed a friendship with from our first home in Swift Current in 1972. As far as I know, Rita had lived in Swift Current. We visited during my 1997 High School Reunion and took many photographs after her treat of chicken dinner at the Mall! Thanks to the Maruska family for lovely card as I am grieving with my family for someone we all enjoyed. She always said "Send pictures!" with her giggle and warmth..and my objective was to send new photographs she had never seen. I will miss her very much.

On a more personal effort, my oldest son, Mark and I visited Rita in her and Herman's home in 1981 when Mark was "1"! Mark now lives in Bundang, Seoul, S.Korea with Jin and regrets forever not being able to return in 1997 with us as he was on air cadet training camp. Rita often shared similar events of those she knew teaching English . Patrick, moving from Montrèal to Vancouver, Stuart, attending University in Victora and twin, Justin, on his way with girlfriend from Victoria to Norwich, England to teach high school English continue to share and reminisce for our good fortune with Rita and soon how we will remember .

Originally, when I moved in 1972 with my parents to the Swift Current apartment , Rita was caring for her father and we became friends simply by passing each other and together meeting as we could.

We had the pleasure of meeting Rita when my mom (Sylvia) was admitted to share room with her for a week at the Cypress Regional Hospital this year. She was a wonderful room mate for my mom and they got along wonderfully. Each night they shared their snacks, had some laughs and visited for hours. We were so sad to see that she had passed away, Our thoughts and prayers are with you, I am sure she will be very missed.

Rita and Herman will be missed. We enjoyed getting to know them over the past few years. They were always so grateful for any little thing that was done for them. It is sad that they are gone but such a relief that they did not suffer for a long period of time. God be with all of you and give you strength.

Rita has been a friend since she lived at Vanguard and was always the same - smiling and so pleasant. My condolences to her brother Johnnie and family at Moose Jaw.

Rita will be missed. She was a very kind person, always had a ready smile and always took time to visit. Even as her and Herman's health failed she always tried to be positive.
I'm sure there will be many fond memories of her.
