Welcome to the memorial page for

Stella Dyck

June 6, 2015

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sad news, Stella (Justina) Dyck, age 75, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 7:50 A.M. at the Pasqua Hospital, Regina, SK with her family by her side. Stella leaves to mourn her husband, Frank; sons, Larry (Gwen), Gregory (Angelina); daughter, Rhonda (Rick); grandchildren, Alicia (Derek), Tyson, Dylan (Kristin), BJ (Danielle), Levi, Riley, Alexander, Keaton and Ethan; and great grandchildren, Treyton, Makayla, Carter, Chloe, Jax and Blakely. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Cheryl. Stella was born on February 7, 1940, in Chortitz, SK to Abraham & Anna Ginter. Stella went to Versailles school from grade one to grade seven. Growing up on a farm meant many chores including milking cows, feeding chickens and many household chores. On many mornings when all the regular chores were completed and there was still time before school, they had to spend time in one of three large gardens. After grade seven it was off to work and work she did. Her days started at sunup and didn’t end until sundown doing any job that needed to be done, usually for about a dollar a day. Stella Ginter married Frank Dyck on June 25, 1961. She again took on the many duties of running a household which included raising a family and gardening. Even though she was busy, Stella still found time to be an avid ball player on the Wymark Ladies Fastball team. She also did some liquid embroidering and quilting at the church. Stella & Frank touched the lives of many children, they were foster parents for many years and many of the children they looked after still stay in touch. Stella taught Sunday School at the Wymark church for many years and was also noon hour supervisor at the Wymark School for many years. One thing she was very proud of was that she was known to many children at the Wymark School as Grandma. She often said kindergarten or starting school was very hard for some students, so extra time, care and her loving manner was spent with her extended school family. Many hugs and feeding some children were included in her duties. Stella & Frank loved their family and all the family gatherings such as birthdays, anniversaries and any other special occasions. To earn a few extra dollars, Stella did some house cleaning and was also hair dresser/barber for many friends and family…as busy as she was “NO” was not a part of her vocabulary. Stella enjoyed gardening and her large potato patch was always very important and displayed with pride. Cutting the grass always required extra work as it needed to be bagged for the cows. Stella made great effort to attend as many events, sporting or other, which included any of her grandchildren or great-grandchildren. The winter months were spent playing cards and games with family and friends, quilting at the church and of course, coffee house. Puzzling was another past time for her, creating many beautiful pictures. One special puzzle, she just finished this last winter, was a picture with her and Frank in different occasions with three of their great-grandchildren, the puzzle was made just for them. We all know Stella was a patient, wonderful, caring, compassionate and loving woman who touched many, many hearts and lives and will be greatly missed.

The Funeral Service was held on Friday, June 12, 2015, at 2:00 pm from the Bridgeway Community Church, Swift Current, SK with Rev. Herman Wiebe officiating. The pianist for the service was Verna Dyck with special music brought by a Wymark Group. “Safe in the Arms of Jesus”, “Church in the Wildwood” and “Under His Wings” were sung by the congregation.
