Wilma Hiebert

September 22, 2016

Wilma (Schultz) Hiebert, age 64, of Swift Current, SK passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, SK. Wilma was born on January 5, 1952 in Herbert, SK and grew up on a farm near Gouldtown, SK. On November 11, 1972 she married the love of her life, Marvin Hiebert, and settled on the Hiebert family farm near Stewart Valley, SK. She enjoyed farm life and took great pride in her garden and flowers. In 2006, they moved from the farm to Swift Current. Living in the city was quite the adjustment but she loved her Monday coffee dates with friends and being more involved in her church. She had a gift for hospitality making everyone feel welcome and at home — she became an adopted mother and grandmother to more people then even she was aware of. Wilma is survived by her loving husband, Marvin Hiebert; her children, Sherisse Hiebert and Shayne (Ashley) Hiebert; the light of her life, her grandson, Logan Hiebert; her siblings, Selma Gerl, Otto (Grace) Schultz, Verna (Francis) Hiebert, Vera (Ronald) Hiebert, Eva (Henry) Zacharias, Ron (Joanne) Schultz, Alvin (Brenda) Schultz, Kelly Schultz, Darwin (Angela) Schultz; her sister and brother in-law, Julene (Ray) Wittman; and by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Henry & Gertrude Schultz; her father and mother-in-law, Cornelius & Helena Hiebert; and by her brother-in-law, Irvin Gerl. The Funeral Service was held on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. from the Victory Family Church, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Lorne Davis officiating. “Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)” and “Blessed Assurance” were sung by the congregation, led by pianist and song leader, Stacey Laverdiere. The eulogy was written by Sherisse Hiebert and Shayne Hiebert, with Quentin Hiebert and Rachelle Parkinson reading on their behalf. Stacey Laverdiere brought special music, singing “You Hold Me Now.” The ushers at the church were Darwin Plewis, Dustin Mathies, Todd Lake, and Aaron Schulz. The private family internment was held at Nordland Lutheran Church, Stewart Valley, SK prior to the funeral service. Quentin Hiebert, Cody Robertson, Devon Schultz, Brandon Schultz, Dwayne Gerl, and Brent Wittman served as pallbearers.
