Welcome to the memorial page for

Carl Loose

June 14, 2016

Carl Norman Loose, age 85, went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current, SK, with his family by his side. Carl was born on September 25, 1930 at Rush Lake, SK to Jacob & Mary Loose. Carl and Jean Steinley were married on March 21, 1957. In their early years of marriage, Carl & Jean purchased and operated the Texaco Gas Station in Shaunavon, SK. From there, they moved to Swift Current where Yvonne and Brenda were born. They then moved to Medicine Hat, AB where Pam was born. After moving back to Swift Current, Carl joined the Swift Current Fire Department, receiving an award of honour and serving his community for over 24 years. Carl juggled his career fighting fires and farming three quarters of land (situated three miles north of Waldeck). Carl loved the land, even though it nearly shortened his life in 1979, when he was pinned under a cultivator wing completely crushing the bones in both of his legs. The doctors never thought he would walk again, but his strength and determination proved them wrong. These qualities again served as his greatest asset pulling him through a triple by-pass and near fatal aneurysm. His strength and determination were admirable, but his ‘matter of fact’ method of sharing his faith was extremely inspiring. Carl is survived by his wife, Jean; his daughters, Yvonne (Terry) Hiebert, their sons, Travis (Kyla) – Raya, another great-grandchild due in August: Jeffery (Jenna) – Reegan, Liam, Cash, Clay: Brenda (Dennis) Nelson, their daughters, Tanya (Trevor) Froese – Isaiah, Kai: Chantel (Brendan) Steinley – Elijah, Mia: Pam (Brian) Wiebe, their daughters, Paige, Taylor; his brothers, Archie (Orlene), Marvin (Bev), Ken (Gwen), Jake (Karen); his sister, Marion (Don) Sauder; sister-in-law, Ev Loose; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Jacob & Mary Loose; his parents-in-law, Leonard & Clara Steinley; his brothers, Glen, Larry, Ralph; a brother-in-law, Marvin Steinley; and by a great-grandson, Ethan Steinley. The Funeral Service was held on Friday, June 17, 2016 at 2:00 pm from the Trailview Alliance Church, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Blair Froese and Pastor John Duncan officiating. The pianist for the service was Ev Loose. “Precious Memories” and “What a Day that Will Be” were sung by the congregation. The ushers in the church were Jake Gerlach, Gordon Beisel, Wade Loose and Randy Steinley. The Private Family Interment preceded the Funeral Service and was held at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK with the following serving as pallbearers, Travis Hiebert, Jeffery Hiebert, Trevor Froese, Brendan Steinley, Kelly Sauder and Robert Steinley. In memory of Carl Loose, donations made to the Faith Evangelical Missionary Church or to the Provincial Burn Unit c/o S.C. Fire Fighter Fund would be appreciated by the family.
