Welcome to the memorial page for

Jerome Nimegeers

November 26, 2016

It is with a deep sense of loss, but considerable gratitude for the lifetime of memories, that our family announces the passing of Jerome Nimegeers — husband, father, and grandfather — at the age of 64, following a hope, and faith-filled battle with cancer. Jerome Edmond Joseph Nimegeers passed away Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the Meadows, Swift Current, SK. Jerome was born November 4, 1952 to Andre & Gertrude Nimegeers in Weyburn, SK. He was the youngest of thirteen children and spent his early years on a farm in Ralph, SK, a few minutes outside of Weyburn. It was there he developed the strong work ethic and unwavering faith he displayed throughout his life. It was also in these early years that he married the love of his life, Valerie. Together, they travelled on the adventures of life for over 45 years, showing profound devotion to each other that grew even deeper in his final days. Jerome’s enthusiastic personality was reflected in everything he did. Much of that enthusiasm was exhibited in his nearly 40 years at the John Deere dealership, where he began his career in parts management and later shifted solely to information systems and technology, his passion. His enthusiasm was also displayed in his meticulous yard, his billiard and soccer games, and literally every step that he took, as many would often comment on his speedy gait. But it was his true devotion for his wife, children, and grandchildren that was most evident to those around him — in his fervent whistle on the sideline, and his heartfelt pride in every milestone and accomplishment in their lives. His contagious laugh, bright smile, scrumptious pies, and his zest for life will be dearly missed. Jerome will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years, Valerie Nimegeers; his son, Jason (Angela) Nimegeers of Swift Current, SK; his daughter, Jennelle (Peter) Hackett of St. Albert, AB; his grandchildren, Joshua, Autumn, Ashton, Carleton, and Annie; his siblings, Rita (Roy) Sidloski, Beatrice (John) Sidloski, Stafford (Darlene) Nimegeers, Clifford (Marilyn) Nimegeers, Wilfred (Adele) Nimegeers, Bernadette (Henry) Shenher, Cecile (Alex) Halyk, and Douglas (Linda) Nimegeers; his sisters-in-laws Sharon (Glen) Schultz and Millie Nimegeers; his brother-in-law, Lloyd (Deborah) Doyle; his numerous nieces and nephews; his extended family; and by his dear friends. Jerome was predeceased by his parents, Andre & Gertrude Nimegeers; his mother and father-in-law, Melvin & Muriel Doyle; his siblings, Andre Nimegeers, Gordon (Jeanne) Nimegeers, Darlene (Walter) Reihl and Germaine van Kampen; and by his sister-in-law, Muriel Nimegeers. There are no words that seem adequate enough to say thank you to everyone who expressed their sympathy during the loss of our husband, father, and grandfather.  Through the memories that he gave each of us, he will live on forever in our hearts. The Prayer Service was held on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 7:00 pm from Christ the Redeemer Roman Catholic Parish, Swift Current, SK with Colleen Jensen as Presider.
